The offending statement was nothing but complimentary meant to be taken at face value. It is hardly my fault if people go looking for something that isn't there. I saw a lot of Gomis when I was out in Lyon last year, and he's one of the most frustrating players I've ever seen. He can be unstoppable and Drogba-esque one week and spend half the game falling over his own feet the next. Could be a decent signing for them, but if I was a Mag I'd rather they'd have gone for Remy.

TBF that could describe Drogba in the earlier portion of his career. Consistency is what makes a great player.
I'd say the true value was £4-5m given his contract length. I also agree that Lyon have chanced their arm a bit on the fee but we can afford a luxury from time to time given Mr Carr's successful bargain hunting to date. Just hope it doesn't become a habit as I genuinely don't want to see us throwing big bucks around like the bad old days.
