I see Coventry's chairman has quit will be a toss up at Fratton tomorrow as too which club is in a worse state!

We got to install an oligarch or sultan
On the pitch it's a misery-ery
We got to mooove these Ricoh Arenas
We got to mooove these Portsmouth FC'eeees

Forget about Coventry and the other teams troubles..........
.we're the sultans, we're the sultans of swing,

Diddly diddly diddly

Considering Communique was not a very succesful album it's good to see all the titles coming up. One of my fav albums

Back on topic of the Saints

'Follow me home' (and away)

And on topic for the Pompey and Coventry:

'Where d'ya think you're going' (Don't you know it's dark outside)

And specially for Pompey:

'It's a mystery to me, the game commences,
For Harry's usual fee plus expenses,
Confidential information, in a diary,
This is Mawhinney's investigation, not a public enquiry,

He'll go checking out the reports
Digging up the dirt
You get to meet all sorts
In this line of work

Treachery and treason
There's always an excuse for it
And when we find the reason
We still can't get used to it

And what have skates got at the end of the day?
What have skates got after the game to take away?
A bottle of whiskey and a new set of lies
Blinds on the caravan window and a pain behind the eyes

Scarred for life
No compensation
Not so private investigations

First two albums were brilliant, IMO. They went down a huge slide after that. Communiqué was very popular in Germany, incidentally. I actually loathe the Brothers in Arms album, I don't hate much.

Anyway, isn't this about Coventry City..? Or are we to be sent there if we talk about them..? ;)

I like the third album, Making Movies as well. I have to agree with you on the Brothers in Arms album. Bland rubbish.!

Yeah, I'm actually not quite sure why I didn't give that one some listening time, when it came out. By the time I probably got around to it they'd probably started doing stuff that was too poppy for my tastes, so I gave the rest a miss.

Knopfler's Local Hero soundtrack is excellent, IMO. Lovely film too.

More of an AC/DC man myself but will give these a crack on your recommendation.

As for Coventry, just think how close we were to having SISU/Ransom....

Blimey, I wouldn't want you to consider my opinion on Dire Straits as worth anything. Now on the other hand, I'd urge anyone to try the back catalogue of XTC and their alter-egos, The Dukes of Stratospear. Love 'em. Hardly a bum track over 12+1 albums.

As for Coventry City, if there is a more invisible football club, that has trod the hallowed upper reaches of football..? If so, then I've yet to see one.

Coventry....Why Worry?

In answer to the question, Cov have more going for them thanks to the stadium and conference facilities

Perhaps the relationship between Appleton and David Lampitt can be considered akin to that of Romeo & Juliet?

"You promised me everything, you promised me thick and thin, now you just say "Oh Romeo, yeah I used to have a scene with him""

This is getting spooky, this thread and the Memorable Banners one have just made reference to Juliet!
