Diony is a pony I was at the beamback today send him back -10 million no way. Fammy is twice the player.
Good to see you give another new recruit a good long chance! The whole team was crap. Admittedly he didn't play well, but strikers never do when the whole team fails to play.
ST E did not play him much, he was acquired on the strength of playing for DIJON WHERE HE WAS AS HOT AS MUSTARD ! he was a "reserve striker in a line up he did not fit into... you need to give him a bit more encouragement!
Trouble is JGF he's likely to cost a lot of money so needs to do really well in his time here to justify his purchase, whilst I take your point about him needing time I question whether in our current position we can afford him the time necessary, we really needed him to hit the ground running , or move over and let someone else have a go, I still for the life of me don't get the Engval situation, neither Woodrow or Diony have worked out yet he still hasn't been given a chance.
this is a bit of a dilemma... plays for his country and has been sub, did well for the team back home on his loan and they wanted to keep him on board! We need 4 strikers, possibly 5 in the squad, putting reid into mifield sunday was a bit of a ? playing 4-3-3 might be a option, Brownhill Smith Bryan ( an others ) ------Reid --------- 2 Strikers have engval and taylor / milan rotating as subs on bench you have Walsh/ kent/eliasson/Paterson /odowda etc to fit in as well!
I think it's fair to say they are both terrible additions to our respective squads, Diony doesn't even warrant the bench yet and Madine still hasn't scored. At least we can send ours back though.......
Agreed - both decisions look flawed. Yours because you took a chance on a completely unknown quantity, and ours because we knew what we were getting but paid about 5 times what he was worth (and that's being generous). As you say you can hand yours back but it certainly hasn't done you any good - as far as we're concerned we're stuck with him. Having just said that, he'll probably score half a dozen in our last 5 games ....
I think I'm the only one who rates Diony . Admittedly he's not been great in his cameo appearances but there was something about him in his first appearance for us that I really liked. His turn off pace was really good and although he didn't achieve anything as such, there's clearly a good player there somewhere. He's the sort of person who'd probably be brilliant after a full pre-season with us, but at a club record fee and with no goals it would be such a gamble.
I don't think our loss of form is down to Diony not being a success - in Reid and Diedhiou, we have one of the better strike-forces in the division. We've probably conceded too many and on some occasions (particularly Brentford and Millwall), there was simply no supply for the strikers to work with.
Diony and Famara back in and the results went south. Neither seem very good at keeping hold of the long ball. they aint that good with shorts ones either.
