I think the good bit of business was not paying a signing on fee for him, especially if he turns into a bit of a dud..
Some oversea players quite often struggle with the pace of our game...so for me, common sense for a change!

I think everyone’s missing the point of the Diony signing.
Unlike Madine (just to keep rusty old spark plug happy) who was bought in to get them goals Diony was bought in as back up to our already firing frontline.
We’ve got Diedhiou who imo is much better than Madine (who we did look at and didn’t persue due to not matching our DNA) and Bobby Reid.
We went a while with just Reid up front as we waited for Diedhiou to return from injury. In a month or bit more time we’ve got Djuric returning.
So this comparison crap talk is a non starter. He’s only brought in as back up.
If he turns out better than we have bonus, hence the try now buy later option. We could of gone for the proven striker route paid him high wages and failed and then before you know it we are back to 2009 with a bloated squad and wages beyond our limit.

It’s a word that LJ and MA go on about. They got burnt by players in the past, especially one who they had to find an idiot manager who thinks he could control him to offload him too ;)

To a degree the success, or otherwise, of Diony won't be the deciding factor in my view, how quickly Pisano, O'DOwda and Djuric return and how long they take to get back to match fitness is the key .

Had we not had long term injuries to these key players I believe we'd be challenging for the automatics.

All opinion of course , as we'll never no , but for what it's worth that's mine.

If they return and get to match fithess reasonably soon then I think we'll make the play offs , if not then I think we will struggle and possible miss out.

Please don't write Diony off just yet. He's only been here 5 minutes and has taken the enormous step of moving to a new country, where he presumably suffers from a language barrier and to a new league in which the tempo of the game is very different to where he's been playing. To help him settle don't be too quick to judge and give him your support. Kodjia didn't start like greased lightning but came good. Same could well happen again when our new man finds his feet and adapts to the pace of the Championship.

Very difficult thing to do when you've had your nose broken and haven't played in the past 2 games.

Never mind, I expect your £10M rated striker will start notching before long. He's been with you a couple of weeks longer and could always have played.

Ahh, but of course he has to get up to speed in the Championship - that must be the reason.

    i think the exchanges of
WERE PRETTY reasonable banter .or . . sarcasism! .. both strikers have yet to show their worth at the respective club ..... and when one or other or both score hopefully it will be on the same day! although the ball will land in diony's court first in a couple of hours time!
