They had clearly made their mind up about sacking Houghton before a ball was kicked in.the Prem, unfortunately for them he did well to start with and they needed to wait until their was the first hint of some bad results. There's a quote from Lambias saying Houghton was too "nice" and a manager needed to be more nasty....translation Houghton didn't put up with all the bullshit behind the scenes and they had to replace him with a yes man douche like Pardew.

His opinion started with an insult not an opinion You don't agree and seem to think a majority makes me wrong... I've repeatedly said you're entitled yo your opinion not the other way around.. Just to be clear... I don't care how many people have a different opinion I'm still entitled to mine.. Btw there's no irrifutable evidence just some very selective periods of success used while ignoring the failures... It doesn't matter what I think, but if people get confrontational that suggests they have a problem with it.
I would cite Norwich as Houghton's only real "failure" ,and even then his first season with then was a huge success, and it wasn't even him who got them relegated in the 2nd season. Newcastle - got us up and comfortably in the Prem Birmingham - huge success that lead to him getting the Norwich job Norwich - as above Brighton - got them promoted for the first time in donkeys years and secured a 3rd successive season in the Prem. Results tailed away by the end, but sacking still harsh after what he achieved. Teams seem to want a flashy young AVB, Gary Monk, Ronald Koeman manager these days, and it rarely works, look at Man U, Chelsea etc, teams facing the fall out on gambling with the "new generation" manager. Maybe Houghton doesn't fit the profile for a Prem manager any more, but history suggests he'll get results if given time, and Forest is perfect for that, ie a club with no expectations where he can build long term.
Mate I know he's done well in the championship and managed to keep his head above the water for a while at Brighton, but I personally don't think he's good enough in the premier league that's all I'm saying. You along with everyone else is perfectly entitled to believe otherwise. I don't think Steve bruce is either and as far as I'm aware the majority of Newcastle fans don't either, but he gave Sunderland some respectable finishes got Hull promoted and to a cup final. Fine it's just if the likes of Moyes, Allardyce, Pulis etc can get regular Prem jobs, I don't see how Houghton is any worse than any of them. I just hate this need to have a "cool" young ex player as manager, its hardly setting the world alight at Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal...and Steven Gerrard at Rangers doesn't count cos he's taken a lazy job in a piss easy league.
