Can some one explain to me, why Poyet should stay if we got relegated. Surely when his contract runs out we are in the same position as every other club for his services? No matter what blinkers your wearing, a combative player like Poyet should not be playing pub football, he is definitely one to protect and nurture and his dad will appreciate that putting him amongst the cloggers and the bully's in the third division is a step back and ligaments only last for so long. In my view a kid his age should only be playing 30 games a season at this level.
Poyet would have every justification to leave if we do get relegated. It would be nice to think he would show loyalty to us, as the club who provided his footballing education, but equally I don't think we could hold it against him if he did go.
If we lose Poyet I would say Powell has a lot to answer for. Still these casualties of an indifferent season get overlooked in the euphoria of staying up or trying to.
I went to most of the U-21 games last season, and although I saw Gritty there once or twice I never once saw Sir Chris, even though they are mostly played on Monday afternoon which doesn't clash with anything else. Poyet hasn't suddenly become a good player, you could see it when he was only 16, not just his ability but self-confidence bordering on arrogance. And although the previous owners have been criticised for not backing the manager, they invested heavily in the Academy, introduced the U-21's and got in the amazing Nathan Jones, and Paul Hart. So yes you're right, it's the manager's reponsibility to get players like Poyet on a contract before the outside world finds out how good they are. Roland also wants success through the Academy, but he seems a bit more ruthless, and I don't believe the manager will have any choice but to buy into this philosophy.
If the former board invested in the academy and wanted to get the u21s right, then why did they get all that criticism? I stuck up for that board and got slaughtered for it and little support from anyone on here, Roly who professes to do the same and has yet to prove it,,is seen as a visionary and looks like he has let go our brightest prospect.. Can't be just me that sees the unfairness and irony in all that. Roly is bull****ting us. He won't be at the club in three years time. We Will be a birthday present to his son and then sold off to some Ukrainian gun dealer.
Watching Poyet boss the game yesterday, the one sadness was accepting we are unlikely to see him beyond this summer. His father is a ruthless customer and DPs public comments on his future have been equivocal to say the least. What a shame and what an own goal not have tied him down to a contract, while all the time the Bovril guzzlers distracted us by knocking one out over Bradley Pritchard, who is a tenth of the player Poyet is.
I think everyone now knows that our best midfield pairing is Cousins and Poyet, Vol, and I haven't seen anyone clamouring for Pritchard's return for a long time. And rightly so. I hope RD does get him signed on a new deal. Not doing so would be a big mistake.
So anyone that drinks Bovril or has different views to you is to blame for the club not offering Poyet a new deal. And that is directly linked to some people "knocking one out" over Pritchard by pointing out he used to get a lot of stick for results, when there were also 10 other players out there who did not put the effort in? It is baffling that Poyet has not already been signed up long term, but how in any way is that down to supporters, or Bradley Pritchard?
Jim your obviously not bright enough to enter this conversation why don't you sit this one out and wait for something more your speed. This is exactly why we should let Ackworth have his own playpen.
Bradley Pritchard's joke of a non career at Charlton summed up all that is worst about CAFC. A modern day footballing Billy Elliott who hoodwinked the masses whilst being unable to trap a bag of cement. Imagine if Poyet - a proper "footballer" - had assumed Pritchard's undeserved place in the side much earlier. We would be sitting mid table now. But everyone just lurves a rags to riches sob story at little ol Charlton, don't they ?
A significant percentage of our support hold the club back with their Little House On The Prairie attitudes.
Surprise surprise, my little question with hints of sarcasm, and straight away, an insult. You really are a sad old man
Because they are allowed to get away with it, that is why. In all fairness at least Vol replied without the need to act like a child. I am also of the opinion Pritch is not up to the cut, but i did used to find it odd that he got so much vented in his direction when to be honest, everyone on the field could have been slated
Because supporters with a certain mindset basically inoculate both the current manager and the exec director ( Sir Dicky) from constructive criticism, and hero worship them to the extent that they get away with murder. Only at Charlton, with its fatal addiction to warm beef drinks and Sports Direct kagools, does this seem to happen.
How in anyway does that require Typical to say i am not bright enough to enter a conversation though? With the greatest respect, who the f*** is he to tell me when i can or cannot post on a forum? It is hardly a one off either, is there anyone on this forum who has not had a clear insult thrown at them by him? Apart from those who agree with him of course. For someone who slags of Charlton Life for that sort of behaviour it is quite amusing he does it himself
Pritchard made decent contributions in his first 2 seasons, including 9 assists last season. So I don't think it's fair to say his whole career at Charlton has been a 'joke'. When he was in the team earlier this season he was poor, yes, and was rightly dropped. There's no way in hell you can say we would be mid-table if Poyet had come in for Pritchard earlier. What you're essentially doing is blaming him for our lowly league position, when there have been plenty of games we've lost without him being involved: Leeds, Ipswich (H), Reading, Middlesbrough (A), Doncaster (A), Birmingham (H). Why can't we just be happy that another Charlton youth product has come good? Why turn it into a dig at a group of fans and a player who hasn't started a game for a ages?
Jimmy jimmy, you are looking for a row. You went madly off topic and are now whining, You made a bad point and got a slapdown. It's grown up time now, nobody mentioned bovril did they?
Typical, re read Vols post mentioning the "Bovril guzzlers" i replied to and get back to me. You threw an insult at me due to you not reading something properly and i am the one looking for a row? Pretty sure i insulted nobody in my post, so explain to me how i was looking for a row exactly? To be fair, i disagreed with you, i should have known that would start an argument. Very grown up of you there
