I've run with AVG Free Edition for the last 4 years, it's an excellent antivirus as long as you do regular scans ;)

Hey Syd ~ Your story has tugged on my heartstrings. Send me your bank details and I'll reimburse you.

I've got loads of money me. I've just won the Nigerian lottery. I've sent them my bank details, just waiting for the money coming through. <ok>

Did miss you Syd;like you I got the message"Your computer is infected".It turned out that it was a Trojan-(Artemis)but I managed to clear it without paying;this happened early Saturday morning and I think that it was just after I clicked on a link in Roker Report.I cleared it using Malwarebytes Anti Malware which is a free download.

I've had this exact scam. Now I'm no computer wizz but I know a few luckily.
What you need to do if this happens again is go into your computers set up mode by pressing F1 just before your computer fully boots up. From there you can alter your computers clock to a time before the virus attacked.
My mate fixed mine, it took seconds to do and cost a pint.
