Because we started off with a few losses in away games where we dominated but didn't lose.

Here is the start to our season...

    Peterborough (H) W 2-0
    Charlton (A) L 2-1
    Blackburn (A) L 2-1
Burton (H) L 4-2 (incidentally the only time we've been beaten by a 2 goal margin all season)
    Blackpool (H) W 1-0
    Wolves (A) L 2-1

2 wins from 6, one embarrassing loss and (while being unlucky) not getting anything away from home. At this point there were a lot of people questioning whether Pearson had brought the right men in and whether he'd be given the chance to see out the season

Then we went 7 unbeaten with 6 wins <ok>

We have played brilliant football all season and only one team has really outplayed us, that being Palace when they were riding on the crest of a wave.

After the Palace game we went 4 without a win and then smashed Ipswich for 6.

We've been below par and have still been unlucky not to draw games that we lost (Leeds, Cardiff, Millwall) and win games that we drew (Forest, Hull, Barnsley)

Danger Fox was the starter of the thread calling for his head and he still stands by what he said at the time.

We looked like we could play teams off the park but not do anything in the final third and were leaking goals.

    Now look at us.

OK, if you want a serious response (not that you deserve one), there was a couple (at best) calling for Pearson's head, people that had paid to see the Burton game and we're deeply worried about what would follow. The vast majority weren't worried, however, and backed Pearson fully. I was one of those - I think Pearson is the best manager we've had since O'Neill and that's from his first spell alone. It's all here on the forum, go and do some research.

I wouldn't say those that were calling for Pearson's head were talking ****e as you put it, but were worried that, after years in the wilderness, this season wasn't going to go as hoped. Sometimes it's hard to keep the faith when you've been burned so many times in the past.

Unfortunately all clubs will have a few numb nuts who will never be satisfied and want a change of manager after a couple of defeats. Every club has them, including Hull City, who just yesterday I saw a number of posts slating the players (the same players that have taken you to 2nd in the Championship!!!) and also the odd one calling Steve Bruce a clown and to be sacked!.

Like I said it happens at every club, it's football. 98% of Leicester fans love Pearson both for what he achieved in his first spell with us and now more so for what he is doing now, the style of attacking attractive football he has us playing, +25 goal difference (boring Pearson, yeah ok!! lol) and the squad he is assembling makes it exciting times to be a Leicester fan.
Best of luck to all for the rest of the season. <party>

I think I've been consistent throughout - I wasn't that keen on Nigel's return as I wasn't (and actually still have the same view) convinced from his first spell that he had the necessary nous to be a successful manager in the Prem. However, once appointed I said I would be fully behind him (as with any other Leicester manager) and have to say that I am delighted with how the team is now set up and the style of football we are attempting to play. On the Premiership angle - if he should get us there then he certainly shoud get all the plaudits for that plus, I hope, the owners would back him to try and establish the club there.

My caution stems from a couple of things - he hasn't convinced me that tactically he can cope with the better Premiership sides (Chelsea in the cup was an embarrassment to be fair) - I was also very disappointed on the tactics for the home leg of the play-offs against Cardiff - it left us with a mountain to climb - and I've also felt that he sometimes doesn't quite seem to know what to do when it's not going right - i.e Plan B (Forest away first season back in the Championship).

All that said - like in any job - you have to learn from your experiences - and hopefully all of those will have made him a better manager - very little to complain about right now.

Like AKCJ says, we were dominating games and not scoring, and at the time taking into account that Pearson was a defender, and is defensive minded, there didn't seem like much hope in the final third.

Vardy was still settling into higher level football, and had a clear goal disallowed against Blackburn.
Waggy was not quite right after returning from injury.
Pearson was still holding out hope that Beckford would turn out good.

But since those games, Pearson has addressed the problem,
Knockeart is now a regular starter, because he wasn't at the start of the season.
Beckford has been shipped on so that Huddersfield are now basically playing with 10 men.
Waggy has had a good run in the team.
Vardy is still learning, but always puts a shift in when he plays.
    Pearson got Wood

Sort of stuff you wouldn't expect Pearson to sort out.

How dare he give us hope of automatic promotion by signing an excellent striker.

But what's your point? Fans aren't experts nor fortune tellers, otherwise we'd all be making a fortune. Filberto above made some excellent points about why some fans were concerned about Pearson's return. I don't agree with many of these points, but some of them have still to be proven either way, so in the long run he may still be right.

Are you saying Pearson doubters shouldn't be enjoying our current form? We're all Leicester fans even if our opinions on the right direction for our club differ. The only thing we all want is success. None of us will mind being proven wrong if we get that.

To be honest, I'm still calling for him to be sacked.

We were a shed load of points behind 2nd placed Hull last week, we'll never catch them, and in my opinion we should really be finishing in the top two this season.

I told you all from day one Nigel Pearson would sort out everything and get you promoted ..

I even said he would bring in new players in January to improve your team ..

In my opinion he is one of the best English managers there is .

The ' boring ' stuff ' was always a load of crap he just sets his team up to match the players he has available..A sign of a very good manager .

along with his staff he knows how to spot a good player also..

I am of course happy with Steve Bruce and I am sure he will sort everything out at Hull City also...

    ;)

    On Nigel Pearson.

There is 2 teams in this league where he has had a big influence on their team

    They sit 2nd and 3rd.

So he cant be that bad of a manager
