Would be quite happy to see Pav go in Jan if we can get someone better, but he'll be paid c £500k in wages between now and then and I'd like to see Harry get some benefit from that. Defoe has clearly been motivated by being on the pitch alongside Adebayor - perhaps Pav would look similarly good if given the same chance.
I think that the problem is, that Harry, like many managers, will only go so far in motivating players. The rest has to come from the player, himself. Some make the effort - others think they are "entitled" to be treated specially - and don't.
That's true, but Pavlyuchenko needs to show that he deserves that chance. Defoe made a very intelligent move in the summer by paying for some extra training. It not only made him come back sharper, but it sent out a message to the manager that he wanted to correct what was wrong last season and he was willing to make some extra effort to get back into the side. Pavlyuchenko's attitude seems to have been to make noises about a move and to go into a strop. I'd love to see Redknapp motivate him, but I'm not sure how he'd go about it.
