If that was when Given played in goal I'd agree.

I was nearly trampled on that game, I was only 15. Pushing crowds as we left and someone tripped in front of me. Down I went after.

Aye & we nearly got howked in this pub until some working girls got us out.
It's not really the friendliest of towns & not a place to hang about in after the game.

I reckon that pub was at the very top of the street and had Sunderland in from early on.

When we left there was Barnsley everywhere and fighting all the way to the ground.

I never supported Newcastle but did enjoy watching them in Europe in their glory days, some great games! Also could never dislike anybody managed by Bobby Robson, great man, and there isint many left like him if any!

    Haha I wonder why!

He looks like a level-headed fella who puts a lot of thought into his 'views'.

I always supported Sunderland of course, but did go to a lot of Newcastle games at one time but never supported them in the same way, it was a kind of enjoyment without the highs and lows of true commitment, don't know why it is not more popular to be honest.

I used to go to both when I worked for Ward Hadaway and they had free tickets for the mags (I paid for my sunderlasnd season ticket)

When I was at Newcastle I always used to have to hang my head to laugh to myself when the opponents scored!!

I'm not sure what you're getting at? That says there was a waiting list pre Ashley days. We haven't had a waiting list since 1997 I think it was. That mentions that renewals are at an all time low due to people being pissed off with Ashley. Nobody is saying we have a waiting list, unless I'm missing something?

Only the point, what you're ignoring is what you said yourself,

"No black and white has mentioned a waiting list for 20 years."

This particular black&white mentions it and quotes a time much less than 20 years ago.

Now you're saying 1997 as the last time it was mentioned which isn't 20 years ago.

Was this thread started purely and simply to stir things up?

Seems to have achieved its aim.

Stirred but not shaken ...... it's no surprise that there's a Sunderland/Newcastle thread on the Sunderland board during the season.

    Happens every year <ok>

Spurs have a waiting list... come quick, get to the front of the queue to pay five grand to watch your team get pulverised and win nowt for the 70th year in a row.

Any other teams in the league got one? I've never checked, I get mine through work who just take it out my wage each month and give me two just before every season. I pay roughly 25% of the ST cost, although I'm informed it goes into a pension and not to cover the ST costs.
