My hat is off to you sir (Piskie), I genuinely laughed out loud. Pity I was drinking my brew at the time... That's made me love Diaby even more than I did already. God bless gangly football players. The world needs more people who look like ironing boards folding up when the run.

Playing-wise I agree with the hothead. I can't help but think that, like Theo, his game will come on in leaps and bounds if he can just stay fit and get an extended run in the side. My worry is that he's going to be like Gibbs and never manage that.

You were on the brew at 2:49pm ? <laugh> Yes I agree with HotHead, I think Diaby is a very skillful creative MF, he has shown in patches what he can do - and he has a great shot on him too. I sincerely hope that he can get an injury free run in the squad and prove the haters wrong. Too many of our fans are quick to jump on our players back. I want to see them eat humble pie.

Diaby is better than Arteta.

There's a reason Wenger has kept hold of Diaby while letting Diarra, Flamini, Muamaba etc.. go.
He's more athletic and has more ability than any of them. He's never had the oppurtunity to show it though because whenever he gets a regular run in the team he gets injured.

Different players though. Diaby does not have the discipline of Arteta. A fit Diaby alongside Song in the current system will mean we will see a very attacking team but it would leave us short on any counters. While Diaby himself has played the DM role he is better in the role Ramsey is doing right now. I do agree that Diaby is very talented but injuries are not the only thing that lets him down. He is sometimes very slow to react to situations.

That's a bold call fella.

I like Diaby, but I don't think he can be considered to be better than Arteta.

I also think that had Diarra or Flamini stayed, they would still be in the team now.

In some ways I’m glad they left as it resulted in Song growing in the great player he now is, whether he would have been as good with around is debatable, then again both Diarra and Flamini had a lot of potential but in leaving Arsenal they failed to reach their potential. Flamini is not the same player he was and Diarra hardly plays for Real and is stuck rotting on the bench.

As for the Arteta vs Diaby comment I think a fully fit Diaby offers more than Arteta especially now that Arteta is getting on in age. As I said before the main issue with Diaby is his attitude sometimes and his injury record which severally hampered his career. I honestly believe if Diaby was to keep himself fit for a whole season you would see one of the best midfielders in the league. He has all the attributes to succeed and his dribbling skills are incredible. If he was not good Wenger would not have kept him this long and he would not be picked by the France national side on a number of occasions.

Agree with pretty much all of that. Diaby is a great talent and when on top form a joy to watch. Still remember that counter attacking goal he scored away to Villa. Skill, power, speed and the finish to match it.

10. Like RVP, Diaby needs a full season of fitness to show what he can do. He has never had a proper run in the team since the day that thug Smith shattered his ankle.
Here's hoping he can stay fit till the end of the season, because I think he offers more than Ramsey going forward.

There has been rumbling from previous seasons about how we should sell RVP as he's so "injury prone".

I hope they save some more humble pie for Diaby

You have to consider that if Diaby had stayed fit Flamini's best season would never have happened. At that point he was considered our best partner for fabregas in the middle after finishing the season before superbly. (while Wenger refused to sign Flamini to a new contract - later that season he changed his mind and tried to get him to sign but it was too late)

A fully fit Diaby is a quality player. He offers us height, power and an eye for goal. (also the best dribble success rate in the league)

<ok> I really want to see Diaby get back to full fitness and reward us and himself with performances that his talent deserves. I'd often thought he'd become to be known as Paddy Diaby as an homage to our great battling No4 - let's hope that he can now realise his potential. <ok>

Thought it was just me who liked Diaby lol!
A fit & in form Arsenal midfield ( Wilshere, Diaby, Rosicky, Ramsey, Arteta, Song, Benayoun, Coquelin, Frimpong, Oxlade - Chamberlain ) is as good as any in the League.

In my case brew = tea. It's brewed innit. In this job I can just about get away with being on t'internet all day but I think if I started drinking too I'd be out on my ear!

As said I'm a big fan of Diaby but lest we all get too carried away he can be a right numpty too. The biggest issue I have with him is not his ability but his decision making. Sort that out and he'd be amazing (obvious fitness issues aside).

What is it with Arsenal 'fans' slating our players, manager, medics, board, tea ladies etc.?

Let's see what Diaby is like when he has had a decent run of games. But, I don't think he's been quite the same player since his breakage.

When Diabys ankle was broken, they could not aligne the bones correctly because of the severity of the break, therefore his ankle is slightly out of line, and he has a different gait (walking) pattern. The consequence of this is that there is extra strain put on other joints such as knee, hip and pelvis, hence the reason he is prone to other injuries. However I remember reading an article on the injury that suggested diaby was very lucky to get back playing competitive football at this high level, I'm a qualified physiotherapist that works in the NHS and it's a real nightmare to rehab that type of injury. I do believe diaby can be a big player for us, but he needs to be managed properly by the medical staff, and possibly should have a slightly altered training regime, as a lot of his injuries seem to have been picked up in training.

agreed!

Personally I would really like to see how a Diaby----Song----Wilshere midfield would be as it appears to be our most balanced.

And you're right to point out Diaby can be a numpty too. At the moment he's enigmatic - but I think we all hope he can reach his potential
