RVP's injury record was not like Diaby's. Diaby has only managed to get into double figures for Premier league starts twice ! RVP has got into double figures either starting or as a sub.

His record is far worse than RVP's <ok>

  2. Agree. It is nonsense to compare the two injury records.

    <laugh> Typical I suppose.

I presume you weren't one of those calling for RVP to be sold then ? <whistle>

Why would we get rid of a player who has unbelieveable ability??? Look at what happened to rvp and rosicky when they managed to stay fit, diaby is undoubtedly better than ramsey and next season if he can stay fit people will see just how good he is. We still have lots of players which we can get rid of before such as squillaci almunia arshavin chamakh park etc. People are too quick to write players off just because they are injured, especially with a summer now to get fit he will hopefully be back to full fitness when the new season starts.

This is my point. A lot of people were calling for RVP to be sold because of his injury record, that claim now looks silly.
The same with Rosicky, he was out for ages and kept getting setbacks, but he's also proved that it was worth standing by him.
Diaby's talent is there to see, if he can get beyond his injuries then I still think he could have a lot to offer our club <ok>

  8. I think it comes down to risk / reward. Diaby has passed the threshold where that makes sense any more. Don't get me wrong i think he has talent and i would be delighted for him to stay, get fit, and become the star he should have been before that thug Smith ruined his career.

I hear what you're saying, but I still think Diaby can turn it around. His injuries recently have been calf strains, which are indicative of a player coming back from long absences. He needs a run of games, injury free and then I think he could have a similar progression to RVP or Rosicky. I'm not giving up on him just yet, but I do see where patience with him is wearing thin.

  11. Given that squad I would play Coquelin, Song and Rosicky in the middle tomorrow.

Ramsey played well against Stoke. We need to be a bit more attacking at home against Norwich. Also Coquelin has been out for ages and the last two times he came back, his hamstrings went. I would, rule him out for the season and hopefully he gets over this hamstring problem.

Well, I haven't seen that unbelievable ability. I have seen a player who gives the ball away, is slow and cumbersome, and who doesn't cover defensively. He reminds me more of Denilson than anyone. Maybe 10% of the time he produces something good, but most of the time he seems disinterested. NOT a good player.

Yea Ramsey played better against Stoke. Perhaps the worst of his form is over. Would rather play him now than risk Coquelin coming back and possibly playing bad.

Denilson? Sorry fella, you are seeing a different player. For a start, Denilson does not have the athleticism of Diaby. Denilson just sat in the middle and passed it sideways. Diaby drives forward with his speed and power. Diaby is far better in the final third and was before his injury a starter for the French team under Blanc. Diaby has huge talent, that is why he is still an Arsenal player despite his injury record.

Get rid of Diaby and give his salary to RVP. Two problems solved.

I agree. I didn't say they were the same player. He does drive forward, which accounts for the 10% of the time when he does something useful. I stand by what I said about the other 90% of the time though. He loses the ball, is slow and lazy, and looks disinterested in covering defensively. I think the French team saw him as the new Vieira. We all know how bad France has been in the last 8-10 years though.

I think Denilson was a good player for us, people knock the sideways passing but its important to keep the ball moving and not lose possession, Denilson was excellent at this. The only problem I had with Denilson was his lack of strength but he won lots of free kicks so - it almost balanced out.

As I said, you can't compare RVP's injury record to Diaby's its not even close. and even when you compare Rosicky's his isn't as bad as Diaby. Rosicky missed the 08/09 season, but at least he made it into double figures for starts every season - unlike Diaby.

Denilson could not stop a counter attack to save his life. His pathetic attempt to track Rooney in that game at the Emirates, was exactly that pathetic. In fact, in that United counter attack, I think the ref overtook Denilson. That was his major problem not his lack of strength. He simply did not have enough game awareness.

Diaby was actually the only positive of the 2010 Cup for France. Yes it was an embarrassing campaign for them but I would rate all of his appearances 8/10, too bad the rest of that team refused to perform.
