OllySaints1 - I don't remember ever hearing that NC and PDC were friends from the Sun?

As far as I remember, The Sun printed that NC and Di Matteo are mutual friends - which I think is true. That story ran in pre-season.

I have been told in the past that it was Di Matteo who first informed Cortese of Saints' situation.

But yeah, back to Di Canio - no thanks and no way. The guy is a clown and I don't think Cortese would welcome his behaviour.

Do you know I am finding it difficult to understand why you are even discussing this piece of nonsense.............The sun has never got anything about the saints correct before anything has happened. They can't even get it right after it happened......So why anyone would give this rumour credence is hard to understand.

where did i say it was true?, i said thats where the sun got the story from, they got word of the friendship. Apparently Cortese acted as Di Canio's financial advisor while he was playing for Lazio.

If a lot of our failings are in defence and if it was NC's decision not to go ahead with the Butner deal then NC should give NA some slack for our performance, but the grace period wont last forever. NA can do it but soon please Nigel

My only worry would be that Nicola and Di Canio dont see eyetie to eyetie. But you never know if Nicola is a friend of Berlusconi he in turn could be a friend of Balottelli who knows Pierlo who may convince Buffon for them all to link up and play for us ,how exciting.

Nice bit of casual racism there, Di Canio would be proud!

"Di Canio and Cortese are mutual friends as far as I'm aware"

You said that. Makes it sound an awful lot like you think they're friends.
