I very much enjoy listening to Clannad albums (right back to the earliest ones) but is that what most would call folk music? Irish traditional ballads. Very restful to listen to. Must confess I've never listened to much Jazz. I was a big fan of The Police, and when Sting went through a kind of Jazz phase in the late 1980's early 1990's I found his stuff nice to listen to. But I never got far beyond that. My book would probably be an old-fashioned Science-Fiction romance; War of the Worlds or The Time Machine (HG Wells) Day of the Triffids or The Midwich Cuckoos (John Wyndham) Maybe even The Silver Locusts / Martian Chronicles (Ray Bradbury) Difficult to choose between them.
I have already chosen the songs for my funeral. Which are sitting on the dock of a bay by Otis Redding, When a Man loves a Woman by Percy Sledge, When the day is done Nick Drake, Going out to the furnace to When the red red Robin.
