Very well put Newbury, couldn't agree more <ok>

Paddy, Clint, Shaun and Jamie are the soul of this club at the moment and each and everyone of them need to be kept on.

I'm amazed at what I've read on this thread. Some of you, haven't you learned anything from the last year? Writing off Hill and Derry again! Do it at your perril. Age is only a number. Derry has never been fitter in his whole career than he is now, same seem to go for Hill as well. Do not underestimate the work of MH and his staff to this effect, they'll prolonge they're careers by a further couple of years.

Hang your head in shame for writing them off, AGAIN.

I cant see how u compare Hills/Mackies performance to Kennys or Derrys. You can have heart and soul but age and ability is always a concern. Kenny had a poor season and Derry Played well in Patches but really badly in others. We just stayed up this year, our inefficiencies need to be addressed. a new keeper and Ali/Diakite in the middle with maybe a De jong around aswell.

Where did I compare their performances? Only thing that put them in comparison was that I believed they were the soul of our club and should therefor be kept on.
The Premier League is a squad game, and to keep this group together will only make us stronger. Never have I said that any of them with the exception of Jamie maybe, should be starters for us. But they all have something to offer throughout the course of the season.

We need better players or we will go down next time. we need a better keeper and a better centre mid . thats the crux of it . Keep these guys and we will struggle again.

I wrote this in a short post earlier on this thread - I totally agree with you Norway. I can't believe MH will get rid of Derry, Hill or Mackie (who already has a contract extension). Possibly Clint, and probably Derry won't start so many games next season, but at the least they will play when there are injuries /suspensions, and come off the bench and give everything, and their positive influence at training and in the dressing room will be invaluable. In fact for me it will take a lot to leave Clint out of our starting 11 - I still rate him a far better CD than Anton.

I expect MH will also want to keep Paddy, even though I hope we have a new 1st keeper next season.

You are talking about first eleven players this season w9. Surely they must be better than the back up we already have? So if what you are saying need to be done and we must get rid of Kenny, Derry and Hill. For this to add up we would then need to bring in say 17-18 new players before next season. Really???

<laugh> More likely looking for beer and PL football at reasonable prices. A decent beer goes for around £8 a pint in Oslo, and to see my local football team (around English league 1 or 2 standard) costs £21, which is what I paid to see QPR at Bolton!

I think Norway is a bit fonder of Sparky than me too!

i said give hill a new contract .

Kenny was in goal most of the season and was shocking , i would say the worst keeper in the League. His distribution was appaling, shot stopping average and ability to conmmand his box non existent. How amny headers did we conceed when any other keepr would have come to collect or punch.

Derry has done a solid job , was only a squad player this year and tbh in some games i had the pleasure to witness he hardly got near the ball, other games he had a decent game. His inability to move the ball first time and quickly was so blatant.

Without question MH should give Derry & Hill at least a one year contract, as they have both been outstanding this season.

I think "shocking" is a bit strong but I can't help but agree with your assessment of his weaknesses. I hope we have another keeper on board for next season, preferably one who is proven Premier League quality (Foster?): imo there's no real competition there atm.
