How do you not blame Hughes he was given the directive & chose the players, how many of his buys have been successful: Zamora - no AJ -no although may do ok this year Diakite - hell no Cisse - ok at first then no Nelson - yes Mbia - no Boswinga - no Cesar - barely Park - no Green - not given a chance but probably not in the Prem Granero - no Fabio - no That's about as bad as you could get.
This says a lot too: I have also noticed that several people on here seem to think that Derry has burnt his bridges by coming out and telling it as it was. I don't think that you could be further off the mark. He has said what we all knew, Harry and TF included. They know that. He kept his counsel at the time which shows loyalty to the club. The only reason he may not return is that he is now past his best and doesn't figure in Harry's plans. His remarks can't cause an upset in the dressing room as most of the lazy ****s who took us down won't be there when (and if) he comes back in a month.
I wonder whether Derry would come back after his playing career is over either as a coach or manager. Whether you liked him or not, he always played for the shirt (of whatever club he played for) and he hit the nail on the head with his comments. If Barton had the winners attitude of Derry rather than wanting to start fight or act the prat, then we could have a player but at 30 yers of age he left it too late.
