Was maybe a little unfortunate here but at the time it was probably a fair decision to get rid of him. Doing superbly well at Aberdeen this season including leading them to the league cup final. Just wondering if he continued this form, would anyone take him back in a few years if the opportunity arose?

Yes I would. I genuinely believe that if he had been allowed to carry on even with relegation as the result, he would have sorted out the squad much better than SOD.
We would have had a much better start this season and be in a comfortable mid table slot, building for a promotion attempt next year.
He would have been tons better than SOD!

People mention SOD as a crap manager, but he was only crap for us. He did well at Donny and was doing ok at Forest too.
Look at Pulis - awful for us and then took Stoke to the prem and kept them there for years.
Delboy may come good, but it is never sensible to return where you failed before - you set expectations of failure.

I always thought he was ok, but in the end he did panic and got out of his depth- Decision in the end was the right one, but it is still good to see him doing well at Aberdeen. It may be a poor league, but it is still better to be at the top of it rather than the other end.
Never said anything bad about us and always seemed a genuine guy-
Would I have him back? well, isn't there currently 14 managers who are at their clubs for a 2nd time including Mourinho as one. But personally, I don't think going back does work, it rarely does with players either. Jon Stead is currently finding that. That said, I doubt if he would want to. I guess he is happy being in his native Scotland and it would take a lot to drag him away a second time.

I believe he got wrapped up in getting youngsters for the future he lost his way in the first team. Someone told me he wanted to do everything which he needed a DoF to help him.

Poor manager here, and had a massive factor in the relegation to league 1
Not suggesting he's a bad manager, this club is a curse.. but he really do himself any favours with his shocking tactics and buying players like jody morris and Richard foster

I think (with hindsight) We would have been much better off as a club, (both reputation and positionally) had We let him use that transfer window to see if he could change things around, I'm absolutely sure we would not have got relegated in the manner we did. We may as well have given up in February once SOD got his miserable feet under the table.
I would love to sit down with Del one day and speak to him about his time here, I'm sure He kept his real opinions hidden as a true professional should, he came across to me as an honest and hardworking manager, who did lose his composure when things started to go wrong. SOD was a miserable, doom merchant who threw our Championship place away with his lack of enthusiasm and dull acceptance that we weren't good enough.

Scottish football is a joke. There is no competition as think anyone of us could manage Celtic to win the title.
The best way to look at it is, since November 2013 Celtic have only conceded goals against one team in all competition and that was Barcalona who scored 6 past them that night. 13 Other Scottish teams couldn't even score 1 goal against Celtic in that period. You wouldn't even say this is the best team Celtic has ever had so shows the league is in decline.

Mcinnes, to be fair to him, had a very difficult task of taking over from the diabolical Keith Millen.
Completely agree with this, he's the sort of young aspiring manager that the club says we are looking to take us forward, even if we had got relegated we'd be in a much better position with him than SOD/ Cotterill

The one common denominator is:-
Nobody on here backed any of these managers when they started doing badly, until SOD by which time we were all punch drunk with failure, and this was possibly ours and the Board's biggest mistake.
We will never get anywhere at this rate because our rhetoric destroys any changing room or board room energy that ever gets built up.
So I say to any City players or management who are dumb enough to spend their time reading this -
Forget about Chinese whispers and the rantings of desperate fans :get on with your job:learn how to win football matches:then do so repeatedly and don't stop.
Then you will be showered with love and worshipped in Bristol, and these pages will be filled of hymns of praise
