Hasnt Ings been playing in under 21s? If he's not going to play in this game feel he's not wanted or needed and will be gone in Jan either on loan or perm.

If we go on like this we are not going to be too far from the top in January. Most of the difficult games are away in the first half of the
    season.

Would like to see Karius, the Viking, Can, Grujic, Firminho and Ings come into the side tonight. Should freshen it up a bit and keep the team strong. I haven't seen the injury status on players yet though.

    Found something now on Ings

“Danny is working hard but the situation is like it is with a lot of strikers,” Klopp added.

“He is close. He is a wonderful boy and it is difficult when he works really hard and is not involved. Of course you want to give the players something back but that’s not always possible. As soon as it is possible I will pay back.”

I think this is more fair than a headline what he's in the cold. klopp is (publically) saying keep working and you'll get your chance. whether he does get a chance remains to be seen as i htink it will largely depend on injuries.

We have after all 6 players for 3 slots up front right now? Ings sturrdige and origi are considered strikers so.... unles she says he will play wide nominally or shows aptitude to find his slot and defend wide when we don't have it.... well I just dont see him getting many starts ahead of fit players like fimrino, coutinho, mane etc.

Current first choice for the big games away is..
    Coutinho
    Mane and
    Firmino
    After that its..
    Sturridge and
    Origi

    He's after them..
There will have be a load of injuries and/or suspensions for Ings to get game time.
He's already stated he wants to take the cups seriously, think Klopp wants a Pot this year so may not even feature in "weakened" sides..

Still think, come Jan, Ings will be loaned out to get game time, Mama is likely to follow as well.

anything could happen. If he shows more form the origi who really hasn't shown much then surely klopp won't ignore that.

sakho is a separate case, He's decent player, better in his position than ings would be in his own but sakho is an attitude issue.

Think with Origi, it's a loyalty issue as well, when he had no one last year other him and Benteke, he went for the younger Belgium and more often than not, he didn't let him down, unless his form falls off a cliff, he's not going to go below Ings in the pecking order, unless Ings plays tonight, bags a Hat trick and shows great all round play...

Jürgen Klopp: Danny Ings will get his chance
    Chris Shaw

Jürgen Klopp intends to 'pay back' Danny Ings for the hard work that the striker is currently putting in despite the limited first-team opportunities coming his way.
The Englishman has yet to make an appearance for the senior side this season as he continues to build up fitness after a lengthy injury lay-off last term.
But the manager acknowledged Ings’ dedication during his pre-match press conference ahead of the EFL Cup tie against Derby County on Tuesday night.
Klopp explained why the competition for places in attack has denied the No.28 a chance so far and pledged that he will get minutes when an opportunity opens up.
“Danny is working hard and good, but the situation is like it is – we have a lot of strikers,” said the boss.
“He is close… what can I say? He is a wonderful boy. It’s not the easiest thing when a player works really hard and then he is not involved, so of course you want to give the player something back for the unrest.
“It is not always possible – but as soon as it is possible, I will pay back.”

that is a good point. I just think he's form has been that poor thus far. When he came on v chelsea he never got going at all.

all I've seen form ings so far is in preseason and not so good. He just doesn't look like he'll beat a guy so if he does play i will be looking for improvement in his physical condition and ability to go do the job upfront. So lets see.

all I can say is when fit and playing under rogers I thought he asn't going to get as many goals as he needed to. A shane long or borini type who misses the target.

Ings, if he plays will play up front, he doesn't have the pace or guile to beat his man on the wings like Mane or Coutinho..
Right now, Firmino is the man in possession of that roll, middle of the front 3..
    Is Ings > Firmino, no..
Do have a gut feel that Ings won't get much time between now and the Jan Window, when he'll go out on loan.
And then.. in the 16/17 Summer Window, if we buy another Striker or Mane type player, that will knock Ings further down the pecking order, which will most likely see the lad leave.
He's a good mid table team player, but is he the player that will get us in the top 4 slots and keep us there, I have my doubts!

    well....
    I dunno...

Klopp is playing mane anywhere but RW and sturridge was whining but klopp only wanted him to go to x position when we didn't have it. when we had it he was all over.

So If ings played LW say.. might he be there 10% of the time? he's be defending with moreno i suppose but it'd be interesting.

It'd be interesting to see where klopp would put him.

I would agree in general on his pre injury level however.. I'm just interested to see what klopp might do.

May as well play with 10 men if we play Ings on the wing.. he's not got the requisite skills to play that role..

well... if sturridge and firmino have been "nominally" placed there for defensive position then why not ings. neither of then (nor mane on the other side) have spent very long there this season

Derby have good potential, been poor so far this season though.

The name of their stadium is cringe worthy

they have it seems under performed thus far.

hey have lost 4 games and only one 1 out of 8... so....

    Derby 0 - 0 Brighton
Derby 1 - 0 Grimsby Town (league cup)
    Barnsley2 - 0 Derby
    Preston 0 - 1 Derby
    Derby 0 - 0 Aston Villa
    Derby County (14) 1 - 1 (13) (P) Carlisle (league cup)
    Burton Albion 1 - 0 Derby County
    Derby 0 - 2 Newcastle
    Derby County 0 - 1 Ipswich Town
    Bristol City 1 - 1 Derby County

This tells me that they are struggling to score goals. There no drubbings for them there but they've failed to score 6 times in 10 games. They have conceded 7 in 8 games while getting only 2 goals in 8 league matches.

Looking at burton having beaten them.. well.... seems to me they are really struggling.
