Methinks Jonah just puts forward an idea we all know to be true Dave.

And now for some reason you all
seem to be on cloud nine despite playing horribly, losing week after week and being destined for trapdoor next season.

I want some of what you're
all having!

Hampy, you are entitled to your opinion, no matter how ludicrous it may be! Good luck in your ambition for a top half Championship finish!

A Norwich fan talking to us about ambition? <laugh> The celebrations of your pitiful form are plenty of evidence of your ambition.

The fact is we're now as close to sixth as we are to dropping two places. We have done tremendously well this last few months and have plenty of reason to be optimistic.

After next season you'll be back in the Championship so you'll have many years to celebrate that derby double. There won't be another for a long while <ok>

Do you think when they turn up at their daft toytown ground in their stupid camp yellow and green shirts they actually take any notice of the match, or do they just get together to talk about us and tune in to Radio Suffolk to listen with baited breath about our latest exploits?

Talking of which, I’m a semi-regular at Cambridge City and it turns out they are somewhat exercised about us as well. My dashing eyebrows were raised when some of their number asserted to me over a halftime pint that “we” used to be rivals (back when Cambridge City were Cambridge Town) and if things had panned out differently, they’d be the globally famous household name that Norwch dweebs and the vast majority of fans the world over (I’m not exaggerating at all here) obsess over and not us. It seems they have the hump about this and if they ever climb the leagues Cambridge Utd won’t even feature in their ambitions. Odd that we should feature so large in the collective psyche of an Isthmian Premier (or whatever it’s called this week) side.

I was curious about this so I did a bit of digging. We’ve played Cambridge City three times in our entire history.

We obviously make a very big impression.

Correct me if I am wrong but the form shown throughout this season is not far from being a carbon copy of last season? (Slow start, recovered around February/March). While you are entitled to be optimistic do not forget that on two consecutive seasons Town have been very slow starters. Maybe that will change next season but maybe not so I would suggest a cautious optimism for you guys <ok>

No Thai, you're miles out. We got off to a flyer last season and dropped down the table. There was a slight improvement in the Spring but it wasn't anything like the promotion form we've hit since the side has been settled. If we had the start we'd had last season we'd be play off certs now (not that I'm quite sure how our form under Roy Keane would have any bearing on next season?)

Just had a quick look at the league tables from last season, you are right, I beg forgiveness.
All the same, cautious optimism is good. If it goes tits up you wont be so disappointed <ok>

Forgiven of course Thai. Being disappointed is not as bad as not aspiring to anything IMO.

With our two teams, and most of the teams outside the top half of the PL, aspiring to survive in the top flight is the only realistic thing to do so that is and has to be what any of those teams should do (initially), anything beyond that is living in fantasy land <laugh>

Well Thai we've proven twice that that's just not the case. If you, your supporters and your board aimed to win the Premier League you might find yourselves with a European place. Instead it's been all about preparing for the worst and so that's what you'll end up with.

That is why I added the word "initially" in my post. I am firmly of the opinion that no team will get promoted from the Championship and compete for a top 8 place on the last day of the season. Needs a few years to consolidate and build to be able to compete, in my honest opinion.

Ignoring the usual dweeb of Norwich fans (or is it a “nerd” of Norwich fans – I’m never quite sure) infesting the thread as ever, the team sheet has shown up at last.

Once again, no Hyam or Carson, even on the bench.

ALB
Edwards/Smith/Delaney/Cressy
Leadbitter/Drury
JET/Martin/Murphy
Chops

Bench:

Wright/Bowyer/Sonko/Stevenshon/Scotland

If Bowyer and Murphy aren't going to be here next season, what is the point? Does PJ still hold out hopes for a freak playoff surge? Is he trying to persuade them to sign up for next year?

I suppose we have to be resigned to PJ trying to keep in Leadbitter’s good books for his apparent contract negotiations.

I’m not sure I’d be wildly chuffed to see a loanee and an ageing crock who SURELY won’t be here in two months constantly picked over me.

<irritated>

Sounds like good 1st half...12 shots v 3...must nail one soon.

I predict 1-1.

When will you learn to keep your cyber mouth shut? You're like the colu_mike of the 1p5wich board - almost everything you say never happens!

Your signature says everything about your mentality - being proud of being called an elite Championship club by the Barnsley manager.<doh>
