Did enough second half to win that game last night but sometimes Lady Luck isn’t on your side and the car crash second goal for them killed us.. Difficult to knock individuals or the side especially when it’s been doing so well with a patched up team so I will only suggest the tighter we are at the back the more impact our injured match winners will have when they are eventually match fit.

We go again.

He stepped out of the way to give Pandur space to kick into.. if he hadn't moved Pandur could/would have kicked it into him resulting in the same outcome. I just don't see a world where Ajayi doing what his keeper tells him to do is in the wrong.

I never said Ajayi was in the wrong. It's Pandur's fault, I've said that a few times now. But the ball was right there to be gotten rid of in any direction Ajayi wanted. He could probably even have turned with it. Pandur shouldn't have called for it, but at the same time if Ajayi's aware of what ends up around him, then he likely deals with it himself.

If panda called out he was a long way back from Ajayi when he did. Not even on screen when ajayi turned his back on the action going on around him. Panda I don't suppose does much sprinting compared to the forward who had just come on for them. A whole combination of things and they got lucky. Move on.

Hey a goalkeeping error cost a point. Hold the back page. Very unfortunate for the team but it happens. It’s been a good run and the luck ran out. I don’t get this abuse of a goalie when a mistake happens. Strikers can miss a hat full of chances and you draw nil nil and get a point. One bad error by the goalie and it’s no points but who gets all the stick. It’s a team game and we should not bastardize the goalie for an error. I speak this as an ex centre forward not a goalie.

I think any other game and that goal doesn't happen. Wind catches the ball so Egan misses the header. From there, Ajayi could have dealt with it but didn't, rightly or wrongly, Pandur shouts for the ball but the ball seemed to slow down and he then slips. It was that kind of pitch, even the ref fell over. If he fumbled a shot into the net I would be more worried. If an outfield player slips, there are usually not the consequences. I think the luck was just against us but a win on Saturday would be 6 points from 3 and that's promotion form.

Egan misses to many headers for my liking.

There are positives to take in that the second half we were dominant and after 80 mins you could only see one team winning it. It was a calamitous and costly mistake and you’d hope you maybe get one of them a season. I’d rather that than a string of abject performances where you can’t see where the improvement is coming from.

I think Pandur is a good gk at this level but we would benefit from some legitimate competition in his position in January.

Long way to go yet, on to Saturday.

Looking at the replay 3 or 4 seconds before the faux pas between Pandur and Ajayi, the central City defender (possibly Hughes. but I couldn't clearly read his number), who was a couple of feet in front of their eventual scorer and was attempting to head the high punted ball as it dropped out of the sky, either badly timed his attempted header, or to me seemed to be pushed in the back by said scorer which made the City defender miss the ball completely. That incident directly led to the fiasco that followed. Was it a foul (impeded by opposition player) or poor judgement in timing?
C'est la vie.
Egan attempted to head the ball
I just felt he wasnt tall enough
Ajayi could have cleared but Pandur was in the better position until he slipped
The reason for the goal was a pure accident

Late in the first half last night Joseph had the ball on the right touchline surrounded by three Derby players. He used his strength and a couple of skilful drag backs to work some space and send Gelhardt away down the wing.

Your insistence that Joseph is nothing but a workhorse just doesn’t stand up to basic scrutiny. That sort of generalised bollocks might work down in the golf club clubhouse, but it doesn’t wash with people that watch Kyle actually play football twice a week.

There's definitely signs of improvement with Joseph, I think his confidence is starting to grow a bit and he's trying things he wouldn't have attempted a month back.

Without getting caught up in all of the detail regarding individual performances (Pandur/Ajayi/Joseph etc) overall I'd much rather see the brand of football we have now and accept we'll make ****-ups, than watch the utter ****e we have over the past couple of seasons. Really looking forward to a 6-8 game stretch when we have all of our besties available, still think we're nailed on 4th :emoticon-0148-yes:

Certainly a force of nature could be a plausible reason.
I just feel that Pandur, given the very swift chain of events unfolding , is getting too much of the blame for that second goal. In real time, they all had an infinitesimally small moment to react. An imperfect chain reaction went against the defending team unfortunately.

Massively frustrating that. We looked like the only team that was going to win until the second goal.

Everyone knows their biggest threat is set pieces, Ajayi has got to do better IMO.

Another thing that frustrates me is our set pieces, they were so poor. We've got decent aerial threat in the team now, we've got Giles, why are we playing it short?

Shows how wide open the league is if they've won 4 in a row, although they were gifted two goals on Saturday, and another last night. So you'd think their luck would run out at some point.

Like others have said though, we have been on the right side of some games we probably didn't deserve to win recently. Big game on Saturday now, win and last night will be forgotten.

Our set pieces are atrocious, you’re right.

I think it’s more the general consistency, it is for me anyway, and he hasn’t been consistent this year and will cost us more points in future games. Keepers will always make mistakes, it’s the most difficult position on the field, but there needs to be something more to him.
