Here's hoping getting into Portaloo is easier than a couple of years ago. Don't want to miss the first twenty mins but would accept it if we're a goal to the good by the time I get in. Just hope we turn up (not like Wolves), play Bennet at CH, Rusty right back, Whittaker left. Also please play Lafferty through the middle, rather than out wide, Grabban wide left and Redmond on the right. The rest of the team sorts itself with Johnson (the new Messi) and Tettey holding, Wes probing. Sit back and we'll lose, go for it and I think we'll have too much. Hate derbies and just want to get this one out of the way!

Thanks Cromer. 80's kid, followed the Jam throughout (parker and scooter) and live in Eaton, so seemed to fit. Have browsed the forum for the last three years and now the Hooton in-fighting has ceased felt it was time to join in.

    Welcome indeed <ok>

I was a bit young to have fully appreciated the Jam first time around, but I have early memories of thinking the lyrics were about "eating trifle" - sure I wasn't the only kid who did the same <laugh>

I had a Lambretta GP125 through the 80's (max speed 45mph) and finally sold (time to grow up at the age of 50) my Vespa 125PX last week. Would have loved an SS180 (would you believe a good one sells for about £5,500 these days) but never took my test. Dreading tomorrow as have 'blue noses' who work in the office, who have been awaiting vengeance since the 4-1,5-1. Never wanted to play them again after that season! I think the spoils tomorrow will go to whoever wants it the most. The fact we have more quality all over the pitch counts for little on derby day. If Adams goes for the 'diamond' away from home I genuinely think we'll lose. They are solid at the back and don't concede many, especially at home. And I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. Fingers crossed. Lose and Mrs Rifles is going to have a shocker this weeknd!

Eating trifles! Brilliant. I just wish I was too young to remember the Jam first time around.

That's how my dad used to sing it to me, bless him he did rather enjoy twisting the lyrics of songs. I'll never forget him singing along to Ian Dury's "Stith Me With Your Rhythm Plinge", and that's how I always sing it when I hear it as well!

Just had a quick look on ebay and you're dead right <yikes> Nothing worth a second glance for under £4k!! Mine was 'C' reg (1965) and cost me £65. I used it loads for about 3 years and sold it on for £40!!
Confessions time, though - it was originally red and black - and I had it resprayed in blue and white <doh> Does that make me a bad person? :emoticon-0112-wonde
(I was into cricket in those days and had no allegiance to any football club - that came later)

I love the modern breed of scooters, sleeker, safer and damned sexy <ok>

Like the new ones but you cannot beat the smell of a 2 stroke engine and crunching those gears. Also the new ones are too relaiable. Nothing like the adrenalin rush of 'will i make it home or not'! My last scooter was blue so I had it re-sprayed green (that's how sad I am!). Counting the hours before boarding the train tomorrow now. Usually drive but last time we were all marched to the station (whether you wanted to go or not) and then left abandoned to go back and find the car. Stuck out like a sore thumb to all the binners who were still kicking around at that point. A few choice comments received! Let's hope whatever the score we can all enjoy a trouble free day tomorrow.

Yeah, but admit it - you'd look a bit of a twat in a fur trimmed parka on that baby <laugh>
Plus there are not enough rear view mirrors for all the 'tiger tails' to hang on!

Poor old Eaton Rifles hung fire until all the in-fighting over Hughton had died down - and now he's waded head first into a 'mods v rockers' stand off <yikes> :emoticon-0105-wink:

I seem to have de-railed the thread from tomorrows game to a Brighton beach mods and rockers fest. KIO - we wouldn't have locked horns in the 60's as I was barely born! Also love the old British bikes, just not that Japanese truck (whoops turned into Malky for a second there!). Let's get behind the boys, hope Neyuul can get them suitably 'wound up' and leave with the three points. Cannot wait!

I was only a nipper in the sixties mate, didn't start riding bikes until 1980, started with a Yamaha RD125DX then moved on to a XS650SE US Custom, a Jap bike but a design that was plagiarised from the British. I've owned some real fast death trap bikes too in the past, but now have a hankering for the more sedate fifties cafe style racer ! <laugh>

As for tomorrow, I'm sure Our Neeyul will have the boys fired up he knows just how much it means to us fans.

Well that relieved the pressure of the big match build-up (for a while at least). Being even older than KIO, my biking days ended in 1967, when I transferred my allegiance to a Sunbeam Alpine. Great car.
