I suppose there are some positives we can take from tonight, but really, I agree with MikeTyson. We lost again, and for the first sixty minutes we we're'nt even in it. Gonna be a long wednesday at work tomorrow. evening all
Charlton pull 2 back, man city score, Madrid score, Madrid score again, kerkar header off the line, QOS equalize despite just going down to 10 men, full time at pride park and full time at ibrox. What a disappointing night.
Good call. Then we could have two "out and out" wingers who can dribble round four defenders (two of them twice) before crossing the ball into the side netting. It would be immensely entertaining.
I'm getting pissed off with this cp will claim we were unlucky blah blah blah and say we move on .... Losing is a habit and we have the habit... The old guard done us proud last season but aint up to it this season 2 nd best week in week out I wanted a reaction to the shambles of Friday and don't think I got one
Kinda wishing I hadn't paid the expensive ticket price to go to Ipswich on Saturday. We haven't really had the experience of nipping bad form in the bud, especially after last season's consistency...
You deserve a performance Pringle I can take losing...sort of ...but gutless displays like v palace and for 70mins tonight I can't
Just back from the match. Re. Mary's question, as I saw it we switched to 4-3-3 with Kerkar up front and Jackson in the middle. Here are some of my thoughts from the match. The first hour or so was complete garbage. Not just from Charlton, but the match itself as a spectacle. To be honest, at that point I was mostly disappointed in Derby as they showed that they could on occasion string a few decent passes together and create something, but I don't think neutrals will have been purring about the match either at half way or at full time. Derby's first goal was good for them. I think a lazy throw in put Morrison out of position, poor clearance header dropped straight to their man, who slotted it away. I don't blame Hamer. Rebecca Adlington looked unsteady on her bike. Enjoyed the 5 mins or so of a Charlton comeback, with Green, Fuller and Kerkar at the forefront. The second Derby goal was especially garbage. Why oh why did Fuller take on that ball when he was clearly (as far as I saw) offside and Kerkar was clear through for a good shot on goal? Penalty looked like a dive, but I was on the other side of the ground, so happy to say the ref probably had a better view of it than me. Some Derby fans were talking about promotion after the match. I don't think you'll be doing it, lads. I had mentioned before that Palace didn't waste much time last Friday by comparison to the likes of Oldham and Tranmere, but Derby were on another level altogether. I hope Dickov and Parry were there taking notes. Unbelievable lack of ambition from Derby. I understand the need to break up momentum and slow things down, and they did that effectively, but did Frank Fielding really need his bootlaces tied by a teammate right after catching the ball? And the punishment for this was... well, no punishment actually. Referee thought everything was hunky dorey with that. With Hamer coming forward for a free late in added time, Derby were able to break forward. I cannot believe that they didn't even try to win 4-2. Instead he just ran down the corner and gave it away pretty cheaply. Unbelievable. Complete lack of ambition for them. I think they have Burnley next. Deep down, I hope Fielding makes an error gifting the Clarets a lead in the first 2 mins, then Burnley park the bus and waste time left right and centre to the end. I may have been seeing things, but I'm pretty sure Chris Powell was featured in a video shown pre-match singing along to some weird camp song about 'Derby pride'. I feel the club should launch an investigation into this outrageous behaviour. I've now been to 5 out of 6 league matches this season. The one that I've missed was the win against Leicester. I won't be at Ipswich and I reckon tonight will be my last for a while (nowt to do with performances or results). Hopefully my staying away will help the team.
Sorry, I forgot some more. I think there needs to be a good reason not to start Fuller at this stage, and I'm surprised he wasn't on at half time as it was clear that it wasn't working. He makes such a big change to the team that I think I would start him, possibly instead of Kermorgant. Solly is not a left back. Wilson has had his chance for now. There are times when he looks decent, but also times when he looks rubbish. Thought Jackson seemed to pick up as the game progressed, before and after the tactical switch. That's the second time I've seen Kerkar and he looks pretty good. Lively and happy to run at defenders. I'm thinking 4-2-3-1 for some match soon, with Fuller up top, Kerkar and Green on the wings, Hollands and Stephens in front of the defence and either Jackson or Kermorgant playing off Fuller.
Just got in after sitting for a sodding hour in a traffic jam on the M42. IA, that assessment is spot on, especially about Rebecca Adlington. The first half was a total embarrassment, the lessons from the last two games clearly haven't been learned and tonight we really paid for that. If it hadn't been for Danny Green's outstanding second half performance...that first goal was breathtaking, and the cross for the second inch perfect. Why was Cedric Evina on the bench and not on the field? Not only does playing Chris Solly on the left unbalance the back four, but it also takes out one of our main attacking threats. Wilson scares the life out of me. He's not without ability, particularly he has the knack of 'floating' a ball at very slow speed for crosses and free kicks but he's one the untidiest footballers I've seen in a while, all over the place, and the amount of times he was caught out of position tonight was deeply worrying. When Fuller and Kerkar come on, it's like someone flicking a switch to "ON". The Derby defence looked shell-shocked. By his own assessment, Fuller's only 70% fit - in that case, why not play him from the start until he's knackered, instead of bringing him on late in the game when it's almost past his ability to influence matters? So disheartened, I comfort ate Bacon Double Cheeseburger and Fries afterwards - oh, the shame of it...
Agree re Solly, tewkes. I don't think it makes much sense playing our POTY out of position. CP has praised the last 20 minutes and urged us to build on it. He should read the riot act. But he's a motivational manager, so not surprised by his comments. I hope it's a matter of adapting to the league, as I still think we have a good team. We just perhaps need to tweak a few things (fuller, green and kerkar as most have suggested), and either try evina at LB or get a good replacement for wiggins in (borrowdale for those corners?).
Tweakes, did you see it? Was it Chris Powell in the video played with this song?
