I'm sure that's the case and stranger things have happened, good point. The EFL need to make a statement, is it offside/handball/act of God? Incidentally, are you from Leadgate?
Interesting that comments of corruption spring up after the mess last night. What possibly benefits would it achieve? Keep us in the championship? Refs won a load of money in some betting scandal? We got a bad decision that they ****ed up, it happens, we still won. No doubt there will be some random excuse and in a week's time all forgotten
I mean it wouldn't exactly be the first time someone in football had made a bet they shouldn't have, it's not that far fetched. Having said that a more mundane explanation is much likelier but it was a hell of a strange situation, people watched football all their lives saying they'd never seen anything like it. It's not surprising eyebrows were raised.
We still don't know the reason, but I would be shocked if it was corruption, let alone if it was ever proved. It was a huge mistake imo
I said at the time it was like the officials were collectively hallucinating that they were watching it back on VAR, very odd. I think it's the case that the bloke who gave it was miles away and couldn't have made any decisions with any confidence unless they've cooked up some other bollocks to explain it.
I'm not from Leadgate. Born and brought up in Jarrow, moved around chasing the coin and have been residing for many years deep in enemy country.
I don't know her, I left the NE at 8yo ... ... but I bet she knows of Tommy Southern or my Uncle Mervyn, fanatical Sunderland supporter from Pont.
Ah, sorry mate, never realised it was that long ago. She was a friend of my wife, worked together for a lot of years at Gateshead Carers. Sadly passed away just before Christmas, just thought you may have knew the name.
I didn't post it but they trotted out the 'fine margins' nonsense ... ... that means the goal we scored which won the match. Supporters always trot this shyte out, Sheff Wed reckon there were four examples of these fine margins
I was just told it was 4th official led and it should not have involved him, as the 2, the ref and linesman awarded the goal. That should have been it.
It's a co committee mate Have you read Keith Hackets post,??? seems an outside influence ie 4th official is involved, The ref is in front of the committee today.
I said on the night corruption is fat fetched. To what end would corruption serve? It is far more likely just a ridiculous mistake borne out of a linesman or ref thinking ****, he was offside in first play I think but I didnt act. Then it just looks a complete mess.
Regis Le Bris makes exciting call on Sunderland's Enzo Le Fee https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...-makes-exciting-call-sunderlands-enzo-le-fee/ REGIS LE BRIS is delighted that Enzo Le Fee has hit the ground running since signing for Sunderland, but the Black Cats boss feels the French midfielder is currently only operating at 70 per cent of his full capabilities.... “Enzo has a very good level and a very good mindset,” said the Sunderland boss. “But I think the Enzo we have right now is probably at 70 per cent of what he is capable of because he didn’t play a lot before coming here. “Now, it is just a question of him getting minutes because that is what he needs. Then, I think we will have a better Enzo in two or three weeks’ time. “I am sure there is more to come from him, but it is good to see him at the levels he has been at in his first two games. I am sure he will improve his levels even further in the next few weeks, and that will be good for all of us.” Le Fee has joined a Sunderland side that are targeting promotion, with Tuesday’s win at Pride Park having cemented the club’s position in the play-off spots. The Black Cats dominated for an hour against a struggling Derby side, but were forced to withstand a late rally that saw Paul Warne’s triple substitution change the flow of the game. Anthony Patterson was forced to make two excellent full-stretch saves to claw away headers from Lars-Jorgen Salvesen, with Le Bris only too aware of the goalkeeper’s importance to Sunderland’s ongoing promotion push. “It is very important for the team to have two or three players who can make the difference in any game,” said Le Bris. “Obviously, the goalkeepers and the strikers are always very important because they can decide the outcome of a game. “Their positions are really involved in deciding the final score. We are very happy to have Patto – I thought he was very impressive here again.”
