If people need to vent after winning away from home, and moving up to third in the table, wow ... ... the poster I quoted did exactly the same in his last match thread contribution. All I asked for was a brief moment to celebrate before the criticism started piling in. RTB's match threads always seem to end up with a litany of moans, no matter the result ... ... all I suggested was a post-match thread for people to analyse where we're going wrong. Then the idiots like me can actually have some time to celebrate.
Leeds played at a very poor Hull and were winning 3-1 late on, they blew it and dropped two points … … our lads fought tooth and nail to defend a hard fought lead. Of course we can play ‘better’ but we might well have lost by playing better. It didn’t win us three points at Burnley or Sheff Utd did it. Surely, sometimes, we have to accept that RLB is playing that way because ‘the better way’ wouldn’t work. It seems that mini campaigns emerge to have Rigg ‘rested’ just like Bellingham last season. If RLB believes he’s vital, to how we’re playing, and Rigg with the coaches and fitness staff say he’s not tired, then that’s the end of the argument … … except it’s not.
Well a hard fought 3 points in the end which at half time I wasn't expecting as I thought we controlled the game fairly well until that point. 2nd half i thought we seemed to move Le Fee into a more central role and lost our shape a wee bit inviting pressure from derby. The Lads dug deep though and defended to a man. Not the 2nd half i was expecting but 3 points are all that matters. As for the disallowed goal I'm buggered if I know why but the linesman did return to about 10yds inside there half and put his flag up for offside. Others have said hand ball I really don't have the foggiest. Anyway proud to be amongst that travelling support again last night it was just fantastic. The bond between players and supporters is the best I've seen for many years. Great 3 points and on we go to Saturday. Keep the faith lads and lasses.
I still suspect the ref or linesman saw a potential foul/handball or whatever, subconsciously waited for VAR to sort it out, suddenly realised that he didnt have VAR, so ended up disallowing the goal. Thats the only logical explanation. Of course he will never admit to that. It must be awkward for referees, one week refereeing in the Premier League with VAR then next in the Championship without. 2 totally different styles of refereeing where you could sort of understand them occasionally getting their methods mixed up.
Someone may have already said, but that referee should be made to give the club an explanation of that decision.
I see no reason why a ref's write up of the game, their match report. shouldn't be made public. They should all go on the PGMOL website within 48 hours of each fixture. Complete transparency.
Exactly, why wouldn't he ... ... imagine if that was against QPR, in our last match, and cost us promotion.
I've watched both managers post match interviews and neither were asked to comment on the disallowed goal.....now I can maybe understand Reggie not wanting to say something and get into bother, but as it didn't effect the final result I suppose we should put it to bed and move on. Still quite the strangest event I can remember in football for donkeys years.
Sounds a logical explanation until you realise it was Sam Allison refereeing. He has a catalogue of dreadful performances Absolutely awful referee
Thanks for clearing up what the linesman was up to. I'm not impressed with that ref and cannot believe he's ref'd in the Premier
I think a lot of the confusion last night stemmed from the **** coverage. Don’t get me wrong, it was an outrageously bad decision. But if the commentators and TV director knew the linesman went back to half way then put his flag up it would have at least cleared up what the decision was, even if it was wrong and comically late.
Well a lot of them are no great shakes. And they are becoming lazy, using VAR as a catch all for things they missed. The linos even more so. VAR is ruining them, and it is ruining the game, taking all the spontaneity out of it. Champion for me last night. Showed both sides of what we need.
Smug, I don't know you and I'm not one to create arguments and make enemies, but I think you revel in putting people in their place at times when it comes to supposed negative opinions. On many occasions you've shown a fair reflection of the truth, I think some of those you go after probably feel daft after you've dealt with them. But sometimes it's uncalled for, I remember when I joined this forum, I said something to you in defence of either myself or another poster being "negative", I don't want people feeling like they have to tread lightly with their opinions.
One of the things I like about Regis is that he's always the calmest person in the stadium, if he'd been asked about it he'd probably have just joked about it and moved on. Brings a real touch of class to the club the way he goes about things.
There wasn't really any venting tho, commenting on tactical aspects of the game is what the thread is about surely - win lose or draw. I am always big for commenting on where I felt we did well and where we can improve. My negative comments were about the 2nd half, and I stand by them - i also said its all about the 3 points If this thread isn't for commenting on that particular match then I don't see the point of it. RTB does an amazing job creating these threads, hes vital to this forum imo, but what also makes it great is the differing opinions and discussions on the match Last night was a great result, any away win in the league is tbh, I and others just felt the performance wasn't up to the standard and we explained why and what we would do
I think you make some points, I've learned a lot from Reg, there's more to the game than we sometimes see and Rigg is integral even when not making obvious contributions. I am in the camp of seeing Rigg dropped, not because he's tired but because I'd like to see something else. Missing the two wingers means it's harder to drop Rigg I reckon.
What's he doing refereeing a Sheffield game. Thought that was not allowed. I remember reading about this but didn't realise it was the same ref
