Exercise is key. Doesn't matter what it is really even if you just go for a walk but if you can get yourself in a routine of gym or swimming it'll be a huge help.


This is good advice.

Get your body moving and the endorphins flowing. Beating myself up in the gym always works for me.
 
I feel depressed today, I have done for the last couple of days to be honest.

There's a huge difference to feeling low/sad for a few days/weeks and actual depression.
If you think you are depressed or aren't sure speak to your GP.
If they think you are suffering from depression then they usually prescribe a low dose of antidepressants initially and also varying forms of therapy such as CBT.
Also it's important to look after yourself both physically and mentally. As others have already said exercise can help people to control their moods better.
Talking to friends or family can also help massively, if that's not possible then just talking things over on here might be beneficial.
Oh and avoid alcohol, while it might help short term it's a depressant and will negatively affect your mood and thoughts if abused.
