Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. Like many things though, you can see the way it's going. Seen loads of discussions of banning kids from heading footballs. Dementia is a massive problem in the UK and very costly to care for, let alone the heartbreak on the loved ones that have to witness it. I know what you said about your grandad, but it's like smoking, not all cancers are linked to smoking, but the government still ban it, and the public tow the line.
Oh here we go lads, it appears heading is already banned...for U12's... https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51615882
Thing is, can't really argue with the evidence ... Jeff Astle for one ... but the modern balls are much lighter .. the slight problem with that is that they can be hit much harder too ...
I remember first week in senior school we had our first football lesson and we were in two teams, I was number nine and in our first real attack the right winger put in a chest high cross and I tried a flying header, I ended face down in the mud and the ball barely made it over the goal line for a corner After that I would only play as a right sided midfielder or defender and never headed a wet football again
Thats what I mean, back in the day when I would play football at school, they weighed a ton, especially when wet. But these modern PL footballs, they weigh nothing. I mean, someone said its more to do with speed than weight according to some research and I aint bout to argue, cos I know **** all but still.... you gotta figure the weight of the item you are striking with your head counts for something.
