Stu, I've always found you to be a sound poster, you say what you think and come over as a fair bloke even if some others don't always agree with you.

Did you manage to get yourself a ticket for the game on Sunday? I'm hoping you did mate <ok>

Denis Tueart was a sound player that served us well at the time. He went on to play for one of the most skilful and best teams of the era. Remember that ****ing era eh? Well I do, Dave Watson followed and we got a fine replacement in Jeff Clarke, who in my young eyes at the time was almost as good in our shirt as Watson was..

It's great to pick holes in people, I do all the time but I don't post the **** I spout on a internet forum. We did win in 73 and Tueart was one of the many reasons we did. Whatever he says now, it's old age, gets us all.. <ok>

If you had bothered to read my post I already said that? He can only blame himself for not being part of a very average England squad but on current form, he deserved a call up over the likes of the three I mentioned who have been ****e but play for Man Utd.

i dont think thats the big picture with the big team thing cest ,but thats your opinion and i accept it as such, just for the record i hope his form continues through to the end of the season plus i think he should be hitting more of the the dead ball kicks.

He should be our go to man on all free kicks mate. He is technically brilliant at dead balls but seems to lack confidence.

BTW, if AJ was still playing for City, or Man Utd/Arsenal, Chelsea etc, in exactly the same form as he has been here at Sunderland, he would be in this England squad without a shadow of a doubt and would have at least a dozen more caps in the last 2 years. My opinion but its a proven fact players who play for the bigger teams, regardless of how they are actually playing at the time, get picked over players with the likes of SAFC. Look at Kevin Phillips and Bent? Both deserved to be England regulars when in incredible form for us but both got overlooked time after time.

Only need to see Cleverley in the latest squad to verify that comment

Cleverley is a lucky lad he is playing in a new era for Man Utd, as he isn't anywhere good enough and probably indicative of the reasons why they are struggling. He certainly isnt an England international whereas I do think if AJ pulled his finger out more consistently, he is.

well i disagree with the last two year bit about form cest he has been in my eyes and others a let down until recently ,a place in a team like from where he came from (man city)must have helped with the superior players he had around him as it is the same with the players you mentioned ,you can almost say without a doubt that they wouldnt be in the squad if they played for sunderland with lesser players around them im sorry to say

I can never understand why supporters have criticise ex-players for leaving. In this case we got Towers plus cash, Tueart only left when the club did not get promoted in the 74 season. Had he stayed at Sunderland he may never gone on to international honours. He wore a red and white shirt and gave bloody good service here which is enough for me. We are not alone in this as the ManU lot crucified Ronaldo after he left.

If Dennis Tueart is one of us, he's kept it a well hidden secret all this time.

He joined your lot at 19 years old and gave you 7 years loyal service, much more than you get from tosspots these days.
Of course he has loyalty to Man City, having played for them in two spells as well as being a Club Director over a 30 year period.

He should be remembered as a hero of your 73' glory not kicked at because he's from the Toon.
