Banana - I seem to recollect you're right about the rough pool floor - it was like bloody pebbledash........ The steps going down to the shallow end and the large hessian rope strung across the pool that divided it from the "deep end" - the wooden slatted boards around the perimiter that we peaked through from outside - the sunbathing section on the river side of the pool - the little changing cubicles with wooden seats - the footwash trough as you walked out of them toward the pool - the gigantic splash as you soaked everyone in sight when you bombed the pool - the intense feeling of pleasure you got when you looked at the person next to you as you pissed in the pool right next to them.............
Dirty boy!!!! Even worse when done from the top board? We had 2 similar pools around Newport, Allt-yr-yn whiich closed after a polio scare in the 60's and Bullmoor Lido near Caerleon - a go to place for teenagers in the 60's and 70's which became a bit of a summer night, open air rock venue in the 70's. I'm sure there were more acts but I only remember seeing Hackensack there. Thanks Banana - BCBC seem totally baffled by all the fuss as it is. I think they thought we just accept it and roll over - no chance!!!! They would get really confused if they were asked the points you mention. Worth bearing in mind though
Banana - in fact I am copying and pasting your point on an e-mail to my other squash buddies. We have a meeting tomorrow night and can consider these actions as another way forward.
Would have loved to give you a game bridgend , played squash from the age of 9 . Hung around a gym at the navy base and was able to play anytime I wanted . Back then we played with a very hard rubber ball that ,when cold , when you dropped it it just hit the floor and stayed , no bounce whatsoever . Once you hit it around a bit & it became warm , it became alive .
Cheers Breezey. I guess you played with racket heads the size of table tennis bats in those days - I still have one hidden away somewhere. Nowadays the racket heads are the size of snow shoes and the balls warm up a lot more quickly. No pun intended. Do me a favour and join in the petition - see link at foot of first post. We welcome comments from all over the world.
Thanks to those who have signed. To the rest, common you miserable bu££ers, go to the link in the first post and sign our petition to preserve squash and other sports in Bridgend. You don't have to be from Bridgend to sign - that includes Jacks!!!!!
Take petitions fairly seriously bridgend , unless it effects me & I have information beyond believe I generally veer off .. goodluck though . P.S. The Racquets these days are a joke .... Had a drop shot that could freeze just about anyone , it's a great game ..
Cheers Exile - I will forgive you for beating me in the play offs. Breezey - the type of action being taken by BCBC affects us directly in Bridgend but these autocratic dictator like trends are happening all over the western world. As a former squash player surely you can add your support to our protest about losing facilities? It will be appreciated and I promise not to argue with you for at least a week!!!! If you still can't sign no worries. There are posters living in Bridgend who have not signed yet. Do I have to name and shame? I hope not.
My biggest fear is something else ( like a women's shelter ) might be shut down instead of what your lobbying for Bridgend , I'll leave it to the on the ground people to make the right decision . Cheers !!
Breezey, the money they should be using to rebuild the squash courts is being used to enhance and enlarge the car park!!! Fact!!!
Swamp/Siam - you can dump this one now. We are up to 308 signatures online and about 500 on paper. Doing battle with the town council tonight and see where we go from there. Many thanks to those of you who have signed.
