A new concert venue could be achieved by a "Millenium Dome" type structure at the showground, leaving the venue weather-proof with an ideal opportunity to add a stage, thereby making the venue a multi-purpose site!

I've been an advocate of selling Carrow Road and building a 40k stadium at the showground for many years. It would be the ideal place with easy access and plenty of parking. Unfortunately the sentimentalists always poo-poo the idea, if we're to move forward as a club and grow it's what we need to do IMO <ok>

I love the short walk from the station , the real estate value in Carrow rd is hardly Putney or Chelsea prices and if we can make carrow road 30_35k that should be ample.
I only get to a handful of home games a season so i don't feel i have a right to have a say.

Definitely not an idea to dismiss, though I personally disagree. I think Carrow Road is brilliantly situated near the train station and the City Centre. So ideally I'd like to see Carrow Road upgraded. I think with the best will in the world 40k is overshooting the mark a little - 35k or thereabouts would be about right to keep the atmosphere. I also think that's achievable while keeping matches at Carrow Road.

If we're going to go for 40k, I think it would probably require a season playing away from the stadium, which is much more difficult.

Parking is definitely an issue, but if people thought it through properly, there would be a park and ride with shuttle buses directly to the stadium on matchday. They could easily upgrade the Harford P&R or put a football-only one in just off the A47 near Bixley/Trowse. I'm pretty sure there's a disused quarry there? Or maybe one that's nearly done? There could be very regular shuttles pre- and post- k/o and irregular ones earlier and later in the day

Not TOTALLY against the idea, but the only pubs nearby are the 'Showground' and the 'Copper Beech', so I'd vote against on those grounds. Also, with CR being so close to the station and city centre, I feel it's ideal.

Can't argue with your last sentence though KIO!! <ok>

I agree whole heartedly. New stadiums are as bland as they come, the Emirates has no character whatsoever.

All we would get is a pack em in Ikea oval like Southampton and Leicester.

Not for me. I like the bolted on look of traditional stands as they grow.
 
I think we've got the foundation to put a second tier on the Jarrold, adding about 5k, then if we want to push closer to 35-38 then redevelop the Geoffrey Watling. I think it has to be done that way round as we currently couldn't accommodate all the season ticket holders in the main stand anywhere else whilst it was redeveloped, which would likely be a season-long job.
 
Stick to Carrow rd, when you can no longer easily walk to the ground via a great range of good pubs a good part of the match day experience is lost. I always think we have a little more gusto as a crowd second half after a quick half time beer, remove further beering oportunities with even more drivers or awkwardness of getting there and I think it could depress the atmosphere which often isn't exactly stella, even further.
That said I guess the club would think that they could corner the prematch beer market out there with few pubbing options.
The only positive for me would be if there was real proactivity to allocate singing areas, otherwise I really can't see any positives at all. If we added 5000 seats to the South stand would we really need more? Once? maybe twice a season? 40K, soulless, out of city development, Bah!
