That should be Poch’s job. But he encourages the dark arts, see Spurs’ thuggish tactics when they lost a 2 goal lead and the title at the Bridge 2016
I wouldn't say that he encouraged that. Merely that Chelsea turned on the heat and got the goal back and Spurs completely bottled it. They were good enough to turn up and beat Chelsea in the form both clubs were in, they just got caught up in all the emotions and forgot to play their game. When Rose/Willian (?) argued Pooch ran onto the pitch. I had a wry smile at that point, I knew they didn't have their heads in the right place.
I remember that day with a warm glow ... the title came to the King Power stadium and Quentn's prediction thread where he bleated that Leicester City might just hang on for fourth spot fizzled out in tandem with his own team's title aspirations ...what lovely memories you invoke
Come on NSIS. Rose kicked out at Willian, Walker stamped on Fabregas' hand, Dier nearly snapped Hazard in two, Dembele poked Costa's eye, Pooch ran onto the pitch, someone pushed Hiddink over in the tunnel... the list is ridiculous. All in all you had 9 bookings to Chelsea's 3.
It was also the same season, where convinced that Spurs were going to win the league HIAG made his ill fated comments about Arsenal never finishing above Spurs whilst Pooch was in charge.
No, again. He’s clever like that! Sneaky, but clever. A lot of very heavy tackles went in from both sides before it all kicked off. But to make out there was no provocation is not right. No doubt we lost it. It was a very hostile atmosphere and the Chelsea players played up to that.
Yeah but that's Costa. Near enough everyone else knows how to play him but you bottled it and fell into Chelsea's blatant trap.
I know people who were there. The atmosphere, even before kickoff, was poisonous. The players would have felt that as they came out, and it certainly didn't help things the amount of hatred pouring from the stands. Clatrenburg must take a large share of the blame for what ensued. He let the tit for tat fouling get out of hand and by the time it turned really nasty he'd lost control. Realistically, we had very little chance of catching you even before the game. We needed you to trip up, and you didn't. That won't stop Chavs from thinking they stopped Spurs from winning the title, but if that's what they want to believe.....
I'll split your post up in three ways; 1) What a cop out. It's Spurs away at Stamford Bridge on a Monday night in a title deciding game. Of course it's going to be a feisty atmosphere 2) Clattenburg's job is to try and keep 11 men on the field where possible. Spurs had 9 bookings. That's 9 warnings before we look at the various times he spoke to your players. The problem lay with Spurs failing to control themselves. There is nobody else to blame. 3) That's as may be. We still had to get two points from our final two games. Had you won then it would have made the Everton game seriously nervy and then we'd have had to go to Stamford Bridge while you had Southampton at home and Newcastle away. As it happened, Chelsea relieved all the pressure off of us for those two games. Chelsea definitely stopped you from chasing us.
Costa is a grade A twat. But a clever one. He winds people up so as an opposition player you have to not be stupid enough to be dragged in. Some of the antics on show was shocking and that can't be blamed on the atmosphere or ref. Your players couldn't seem to handle that the whole crowd was against them
