Keeping players will be the name of the game shortly, once the fat cats start throwing their money our way! hope your all ready for it, must admit Huw is good at this, one of his stronger points, did well with Derby and Paul Jewell, and I'm sure he's up to the task that is clearly ahead!..................... please log in to view this image
I agree there Dragon,Huw likes the odd game of russian roulette, think he comes from the mike ashley school of football negotiations therefore i think we can expect opening bids of around £35m quid and upwards
I hope we sell a player for stupid money , pick the name out of a hat as far as I'm concerned . It's a money pit in the Premier & we can advantage it
Wouldn't want to lose any of our boys' that started the match yesterday, no matter how much the money!!!...
I would never sell a GOOD player that didn't want to go , but if he did & crazy money was offered it would be Sayonara to whoever it was
We should have held on to Pintado, he was 7 million a few years, with the rate of inflation ... I think we could have got at least 15 million!
Agreed we do need another defender, Musty, but Josh is pure class. He's young, eager to make his mark and, above all, he is an immense talent. Looking at Buck's philosophy, he reasons that the more we retain the ball, the less chance our opponents have of scoring. Mceachran will certainly help us do that but his vision and passing ability should help us score more goals as well. Look at Sig's pass for the winner against Arsenal. Take your point, though and I would guess that Situ is being carefully groomed as another defender - will take time, though.....
The fact that tate is back soon really highlights the need to bring in some defensive cover Jack legend but it will be extremely hard work for him at this level IMO
At best, and at his best, Tatey will only be a squad player for us. Love they guy for his honesty, loyalty and effort but PL class he is not. Should we lose one of our centre backs for any period of time we shall be in serious trouble. Monk and Tatey offer short term cover but we would have a serious weakness with either of them playing. I feel like a traitor posting this as both players are such great clubmen but I have stated my firm and honest opinion.
Tate will prob go out on loan eventually it wouldnt be fair keeping him on side lines watching the better players week in week out, i cant see him raising his game to prem level so kinder to let him play lower level maybe help behind the scenes iff we stay up long term, not the best ability wise but a good servant deserves respect .
tate will have a game now and then as brendan loves him but he is handy to have as back up even for vorm...
Tate will probably get games against the likes of Bolton, and Wigan, but he's been out for a while, and a rusty Tate, doesn't bare thinking about, I'm in complete agreement with Ivor's comment, or as Clint used to say, "a mans got to know his limitations", both Monk and Tate are in the twilight of their careers now. On a more important issue, we need to be untied in the boardroom on how we will fend off, the vultures that will surely descend come summer, and it's a bit worrying when our director John van Zweden, states in the media, that, both Manchester United and Chelsea had made their interest known in Vorm, while Tottenham are also monitoring his progress, then we get the club subsequently attempting to extinguish suggestions that Vorm could leave the club, with an emphatic statement, "We have not received any enquiries about Michel Vorm." which is true, we might well ask? but one thing is for sure, and it is summed up by van Zweden, when he said, "It would be a nightmare for us if he left." and I'm sure we'd all agree with that, but these are early days, and our unity and resolve are going to be tested, and we will only succeed in fending off these 'Fat Cats' if we are united in our resolve, to keep our best players, once we start to go down the route of selling, then I'm afraid, the great football revolution here at Swansea will be over, and that's my biggest fear, though I would say that the one bright light is Huw Jenkins, he's no pushover, regarding these vultures, as he showed with Ferrie Bodde, and I'm sure he's up to the task, I must say that this is one of Jenkins strongest virtues, his ability to keep our best players, and he'll be earning his salary this summer. It's not just Vorm either, Liverpool, Newcastle, Spurs, and many more are looking closely at our players, Sinclair, Dyer, Allen, and Williams, are and will be targets, so let's hope Huw puts the phone of the hook plenty this summer!............. please log in to view this image
If we have to entertain offers then let them be big ones!! Of the players being mentioned right now I wouldn't listen to anything below £15 million. Henderson £20 million? Carroll £35 million? etc. If the big clubs want to splash the cash then they can splash it our way for a change. This is especially true in the case of Vorm. We would have to pay his former club a percentage of our fee and I'm guessing it won't be small. What would we be left with? I'd rather keep the players but if they must go then let's bleed every penny we can from the buying club.
hopefully vorm wont go until the summer where if his form stays constant for the remainder of the season then we could see a bidding war that will smash the record transfer fee for a goalkeeper......we could even double our potential earnings for this season......now that will be nice.....
