http://addickschampionshipdiary.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/sign-up-to-our-long-term-plan-says.html "Katrien has built up some credibility with fans" 1) Has she? 2) With which fans would that be then? I normally respect Wyn's views but I am not sure he has this one quite right?
I hate being accused of being short term, I don't give a **** about the premier league, there is nothing appealing about it. Probably couldn't afford a season ticket for one. That and the arrogance and plasticness of the division annoys me.
I wonder what the players think of her? If they are ambitious to play in the Premier league and they hear the CEO telling all and sundry that it won't be happening any time soon it must put a dampener on morale. It certainly doesn't make the manager's job any easier when it comes to motivation. No wonder she expects the best players to leave.
I can understand your point about motivation, FHB, yet I like to think the players give their all for the shirt, the fans, and a nice wage cheque, regardless of whether the club is aiming for the Promised Land. Playing professional football for a living is surely enough of a boost to morale, but somehow I believe most players think they are better than they actually are. Just get on with the job and make us proud - win, lose or draw - and we'll appreciate you in return. That's my message to the Charlie Big Marrows.
Don't disagree with any of that, Ponders, but he who pays the piper calls the tune, and in this case the paymaster doesn't seem to keen on promotion. I wonder what the win bonus is? You know that certain players will run through a brick wall, but others will do just enough to get by.
It also depends on the length of their current contracts, some players will give 120% effort if they are in the last 12 months of a contract... they sign a spanking new 4 year deal and all of a sudden they give 75% per match.... there are certain exceptions like... Kins, Kish, Matty Holland and currently ... Skipper.
