I bet there's absolutely no truth in the Benteke stories. Its just journo's who are looking at our past history/style of transfers and coming to the conclusion that he's the sort of player Levy will go for. Gotta say, I wouldn't mind him at all. We'd still need another up and coming high profile type, but I think Benteke would suit us very well and give us some versatility that we've been severely lacking.

Only if he is in the crowd. He was Young Boys manager more recently than Basel Manager. He's probably on the tube on his way to the ground.
He did pretty well at Basel. Stayed there for 10 years after "leaving" us. Regular CL qualifier, with some decent results over the years.
I don't think our problems lay with Defoe. Injured for much of this season but has played reasonably well, when moderately fit. On occasion he has been played as a lone striker,. a role he has not been too familiar with or particularly liked. But dispite this, he has adopted to suit the style of play and he has never been a coward. I would not sell Defoe because when things go his way... (and he stops having to run around all over the place to hold the ball up for himself),....... he will still score a goal or two. He will always give 100% regardless to the situation and for that he deserves not only a place in the this squad, but respect as a true professional. He's has played a part in past honors and will be instrumental to future success of the club, IMO. COYS
