    Shola and Loven each outscored him last season.

    I'd have Defoe over no-one, but for the price he'd cost i think we could find better

    Very good striker, better than we have. Just the read the article and there is no quote or anything. Don't believe it.

    No they didn't, Shola scored 9 last last season, same as Defoe. Lover scored 7. They all made about 30 appearances each but look at career apps to goals ratios;

    Defoe = 2.4

    Lover = 3.6

    Ameobi = 4.4

    There is NO competition!

    Defoe scored 4. Shola 6. Loven 6. I'm not bothered about his 3 in Europe, he wouldn't be playing in it, could possibly count his 2 other domestic goals.

    4 goals in 22 appearances though, Shola played 28 and started a lot more games, so did Lover. You can't discount the career records man, he pisses all over Shola and Lover (poorer record in inferior leagues). I'm not Defoes biggest fan tbh but he's a cut above our current crop (barring Ba and Best, the jury is still out obviously)

    Oh i agree 1 or 2 years ago would have snapped him straight up. But going by career records you have to remember as well that Shola has been back up 2/3rds of his career and Loven never settled in Germany.

    I just think Defoe has lost a lot of pace, and is effectively past it. Or will be soon.

    He's too good for Newcastle but I think he has only really got one,maybe two good seasons
    left in him.

    When he is burnt out and maybe just getting released from prison for rape in a few years
    you could come back in for him,he may be willing to play for you then.

    He is not too good for us at all. Have you looked at the list of strikers good enough to have played up here?

    Defoe is ok but I wouldn't want us to pay £10m for him and I reckon his wages will be too high (unlike his height).

    Oh yeah and he is a northern softie! :)
