I ain't a fan of Defoe tbh.

Defoe is a quality striker but won't come to NUFC so this is a non event.

 

Build the field and he will come.

Or should that be, put the silver in front of him and he will come?

 

Sure a fully fit Defoe would walk into our team, being that we have one goal scorer. But like I said, he never gets a run of games and we've been there done that with good goal scorers who spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch.
I've never suggested he wasn't good enough for Newcastle, just he tends to get niggling injuries and, getting on in years, they're only going to get worse. Not worth the 60-80k he would demand.

 

Better than Guthrie, and for me we never replaced him. On his day he has a good range of passes on him. I think he would add an extra element to an unbalanced midfield. Beats moving Gutierrez inside.

 

Can't see anybody giving him a contract at £60-80k.

Certainly not us.

Harry's probably given him a decent deal at Spurs and he probably got a fair few pence at Portsmouth considering whats gone down there.
So he's going to be looking at equalling what he takes at Spurs to move on.
Tough call where he would go. But I don't doubt he's going to be looking in that ball park.

 

Not even worth discussing Defoe, he just wouldn't be interested. Quality striker but pretty injury prone, ageing which won't help that issue, and I think we have enough of those types.
