If Short sold Defoe, Moyes would walk imo.

Maybe if we did sell him we could get more than did for Kaboul <doh>

20m would be excellent but we could never replace him in such a short space of time.
Defo is crucial to the survival of Sunderland's premiership hopes, more so than Pickford and Kone.

The only reason I can envisage a sell is due to money - i.e. we get offered £20m for a 34 year old. We couldn't replace like for like as I don't know another player capable of playing that role or that I would like the ball falling to 10 yards out! (within our price range)

I personally think, to coin a phrase from a song them up the road sang, that Short would have a riot on his hands if he sold him.

Silly story, he signed an extension not long ago did he not, when Allardyce was there?

Maybe WH are putting irons in the fire, but they're more than likely going to draw blank after blank, because nobody, especially relegation rivals, will want to sell you a top goal scorer, in January.

Maybe if Payet took his stupid fat head out of the clouds they wouldn't need to be looking for more goals elsewhere.

We can't risk selling him with the idea of getting a direct replacement in.

Far too risky and too many ifs and buts 'will he hit the ground running' kind of jist.

Waving the white flag if we sell IMO.

It's all a load of bull but if the likes of Gayle can go for £10m+ then despite his age Defoe is worth £20m
Anything less than the loss we'd make from relegation would be stupid.

He's worth 100m or more to us. But there is no way on earth anyone would pay 20m for a mid 30s Defoe. I can see someone paying 6m though. Hypothetically, if a replacement was available, getting 6m quid for a player who probably only has another couple of seasons at the highest level in him would be good business. In real terms, letting any player in our squad go for that little is of no value to us whatsoever.

The only reason I asked the question was because of the wages and FFP as well as the sales price, frees up a lot of wages. Again hope it's all bullshit but on some level it makes sense but would make up favourites to go down.

Yeah you're right - on some level from a business perspective, it would potentially make some sense somewhere - but I'm not a businessman - I'm a football fan (not ranting at you bex - more at the idea of this happening - think its all bullshit personally but there';s always something to rock the boat with the smaller clubs nearing transfer window!!)

I personally reckon Defoe could be a good signing for much better than West Ham! Upper mid table teams could do with that type of player - not people languishing with us!

I bet the papers have a laugh making this **** up and thinking about all the fans having serious discussions about whatever nonsense popped into their heads.

And if Big Vic got injured then Asoro would be our number one striker.

JD could say he has a poorly relative in London if he wants to go, that works.

If he was sold, don't expect the whole six million to be available for transfers, maybe one million.
We could all Newcastle for Murphy or Armstrong on loan.

No chance, where will we get a striker for £6m ? ( Danny graham hehe), if it happens then Rashford and Sweinstieger on loan give them huge wages.
