Nonsense - we'll be looking to sign him still in a year or two when his legs have really gone and his family have struggled to settle in the north east (that's what footballers say when they want to live somewhere else isn't it??). We'll pick him up for a few quid on a 5 year contract - all to be signed off on a Thursday!

I know what you mean but I think not on this occasion. Finally laid to rest.

Thank god for this. What a mistake this would be. Would he stay if we went down - no. If he did would he want to play - no. Is he a up and coming talent who builds us up for the future regardless of what next season holds - no.
    Is he old - yes
Has he played with Bagface before and thus does not need to work hard to get a place - yes
Is he really expensive for what he is - yes

Yes, despite scoring goals early on, he missed a good number of games for TFC last MLS season and has not played since last October when they were eliminated from the playoffs - if he arrived here, out of shape, on a long term contract, I could see him picking up more of those niggly injuries and missing games for us too.

I hope you're right...maybe we'll finally re-sign Peter Crouch in a couple of years time instead!

I cannot make my mind up here. Should we have forked out a vast amount of money to get him or not? Only time will tell if Sunderland having taken the risk will be moving up the table or have an overpaid mercenary on their hands.

Off course it is a nailed on certainty that Defoe will score a hat-trick against us in a few weeks time.........but then Charlie will score 4 and we win.:1980_boogie_down:

If we had signed him, then it is written that we would have Samba mark 2 on our hands.

But for Sunderland no doubt he'll score 15+ and be recognised as one of the signings of the season...

If you have the power of foresight and your statement comes true, I'll buy you a pint or three.

Well he did sign on a Thursday even though it wasn't for us. What a star that Cerny was. How many transfer windows has it been now and in each one he was a nailed on certainty before finding that the grass was greener elsewhere. Perhaps we'll get him in the end when he decides that he's home sick again, is another year older has lost even more pace, picked up another injury or three and only wants 70K a week. Can we get on with our lives now?
