In a team that defends deep with a strong central midfield, he's good. All other scenarios and his deficiencies are horribly exposed.
Dont disagree with that. But he's better than anything else in the league (Except Butland). Can he be improved on, absolutely, must he be improved on right away? No... He doesn't cost us as many points as he saves in my opinion.
So you reckon he's the 7th best keeper in the division then.......and you're in and around that position.... You need to upgrade that position if you're intent on progression imo.
Yup but I think our CBs are probably about 10th and our CM is probably about the same! Other areas need improving more.
Skrtel and Mignolet are similar in that they are either great or a liability. Put percentages on that - 50/50 .. 40/60 ... or 30/70 .. or those last two percentages in reverse? The same seems to be happening with Firmino at the other end
Even if you forget everything in the past, using the most recent performance, he cost us 2 points. Don't forget Bordeaux either, that cost us points that as it happened didn't matter, but could have been the difference between finishing 1st or 2nd.
LFC reality check isn't it. I think tobes is being fair above. Mingolet is a very average keeper. nothing special at all. I think bogdan is every bit as good as him and frankly give ihim a run of 5 games and that'd knock off the rustyness and you'd never notice the change. Everyone knows i think Skertl is a cowardly defender wo likes to retreat and back off all the time Lovern is an honest type of player. useless on the ball but a go forward type of guy Sahko is not as bad as some make out on the ball once he has options and he's a decent defender too.. not rock solid as some would say but a 100% type of guy. In short LFC have nobody to do the work that has been talked about ad nausea on here. Not one organising defender and no commanding goalkeepers The problem is skertl's been there so long people have forgotten how useless he looked compared to the hyppia and carragher tpyes he was replacing back in 2007 and 08. on the other hand mingolet is so bad with his feet nobody can forget reina! Its just plain average is all nothing outstanding really.
Mig didn't cost us two points.... The defending for both goals was terrible with an lfc defender not getting close... And when you have 25 shots you expect to score more than 2. Bordeuax ax one was ridiculous to be fair, can't excuse that lol.
I don't think every goal against is Mignolet's fault, obviously, but some definitely are and yesterday was one of those - bad defending played a huge part but he was at fault for their first goal. I also don't like how Pulis has a man on the goalie, Gardner [?] had two hands behind his back holding Mignolet and not just the one the ref caught either. On a side note you still can't spell Bordeaux
I mentioned Mignolet a while back and was told his was the least of our problems. As it happens I was correct in stating a leopard doesn't change it spots. He is not good for us. We need a solid keeper who our defence can rely on.
Say what you want about the defense, but Mignolet doesn't inspire confidence in anyone. He blunders through games (but occasionally making a good stop) and then just yells at someone after a mistake to deflect. Watch how many times he miskicks a ball, but then shouts at players to push out and close down, or misjudges a cross but rushes out to complain to the ref that there was a foul. He's absolute garbage and has been ever since he arrived. I have no confidence just watching him play, god knows what I'd be like if I had to play in front of him every week and trust him to be there following up his calls! It's a game of second guessing in case someone ****s up in our defense. They all need shooting, besides Clyne, Sakho and Moreno.
