I always wanted one. I think I might treat myself. A mate of mine had one at somepoint. I should have slaughtered him and took it from his blood stained corpse but you live and learn.

The thought of you with a deadly weapon is not something that fills me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. I will however consider buying you one plus a season ticket for this coming season if we don't get the signings I want over the line.

For me nothing but a back up squad player. Not imposing CB or FB in my honest opinion.

Who do people think is the worst player we have (Willo is excluded)?

I'd have to go Riviere or Haidara. Just devoid of any football ability. Riviere's only redeeming feature is his comedy hairstyle. Haidara is quick and whips in the odd decent ball. Both are not PL standard, indeed I think both would struggle in the championship.

Our worst player by a mile is Williamson, followed then by Sammy and Obertan joint.

Haidara is hard to judge, he's not bad going forward but has been poor defensively, but then Colo has been a disgrace too and I'd actually say he was worse than Williamson last year.

Tough one that. I would say a toss up between Willo, Saylor, Obertan and Sammy.

Willo is excluded lads as that is a no brainer.

I don't find it diffcult to judge Haidara. When a professional footballer can't control a football then I pretty much know he is gash. Sammy is a credible choice though. Earning corners is not the be all and end all.

Obertan. Well I can't have him in the top bracket of ****eness. We never looked better than when him and Aarons were flying last year. Their injuries killed us. Fair enough it was flash in the pan stuff, but at least he showed something. Same goes for Saylor and Colo. They still have good games when fit.

I'm surprised Riviere did not even get a mention in either list. Very surprised. Lets not forget he was 1 in 23 appearances in the PL. That is some high level ****eness. Then add in his one goal was a complete fluke which he kicked off himself. I think the enduring image of Riviere is of the ones where he just collapsed when presented with a chance for no apparent reason. 6m. 6 ****ing million!! At least Obertan and Sammy have that excuse.

Mate a few tiny bright sparks in four years of ****ness is not enough to save that bald headed mong Obertan from my hatred. He is ****ing wretchedly awful.

Dummett's ok as a third choice CB. But he's allegedly getting the number 3 and will be our first choice LB. Does any other club actively pursue mid/low-table mediocrity as spectacularly as NUFC.

True. Imagine how you will feel in 3 years time after Riviere and Haidara have become Newcastle stalwarts.

Then one would hope it is because they have progressed under decent management and coaching!

It would be a nice thought. Not really realistic with those two. There is nothing there to work with. Its like Obertan. He is very quick, he can stretch games and when he had that little spell, he was excellent. The problem is Pardew was eeking something out of him he wasn't capable of maintaining. Good coaching and management will get you so far. The majority comes from the player and having the raw tools.

Its not like with Marveaux and HBA where talent isn't the issue, just attitude. These guys actually lack ability.

I can't believe the state we have let our team get into. All in the pursuit of money.

Disagree with this regarding Haidara! Not saying he will be great or owt like that but think he can become a solid LB. You have to remember our fullbacks are often isolated with no support from midfield players nor CB's so any little mistake they make is exaggerated to the extreme. Just remember Enrique - he basically was ****e and only progressed as Jonas did his job for him!

Mate, really? Enrique had positional issues, sure, but he could control a football. This, sadly, is a skill our Massadio seems to lack and at 23 he's probably not getting much better at the basics.

It's a bit of the endemic problem at NUFC - ignoring facts in favour of eternal optimism. I suspect our board (Charnley) does the same. The club desperately needs a top flight left back to complement Janmaat's ability. Solution? Offer Dummett a new contract, the number 3 jersey and pray it somehow works with McClaren in charge. Haidara, a very low quality backup, doesn't offer genuine competition but in Fat Ash and Charmlessly's eyes it's one vacant spot crossed off the list. I hark back to my post about the squad being "full" - this is exactly what I mean, we are at capacity in terms of left backs, but neither of them are good enough so you're inviting an easy option for the opposition from day one - attack our left. Cabella cannot support, Sammy won't be here, Gouffran is dogsh!t, Marv isn't a LM capable of defending so without kicking a fcking football we're handicapped. This is where the gross incompetence of Lee Charnley working with Graham Carr is shown up to its fullest.

Yes really! Begin to wonder why some people even bother supporting NUFC! And to think we have had it far worse than we have it now!

As for Haidara - I think that stems from that **** tackle of Macmanaman which still affects him. He is also surrounder by sheer ****eness everywhere else and with the ****test of coaching so of course it looks like he has made no progress whatsoever and to be fair he hasn't - but least give him (seeing as he is young) a chance with decent coaches to see what he can do! Please note as well that not once have I said he is first choice!

    You and me both, mate.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not meaning to single out or vilify the player, by the way, and neither of us said he would be first choice. But he's been poor so far. Whether that's because of the McManaman tackle or not is irrespective; if he's not the same player, not as good, he's not worth having around.

My point was left back is not very strong at all; it's currently Championship standard. My point is the laughable "football board" seem by all accounts to be struggling to such an extent to fill positions, they're simply shifting players around within the squad and 'making do'. This is what caused so many issues in the first place.

Oh I agree totally - we need a starting LB and 2 starting CB's. Then we need either 2 wingers or 1 winger and a creative midfielder and then finally we can worry about the ball in the net!

I really disagree with this one. I thought Enrique was class and we still haven't replaced him!

Ooo er! He was carried by Jonas for at least 2 seasons before he became a solid LB!

It took him a couple of seasons to adapt sure, but he was a young lad still finding his feet, let alone having to get used to the English game and culture. The Championship did him the world of good and he didn't really look back after that.
