If eight of the starting eleven are defensive players, then you'd hope that we'd look good in defence. We'll never score, obviously, but at least we'll continue to look good in defence. Did I mention that I don't like 3-5-2?
At least if Bruce and McShane are injured, as has been reported, then we'll be forced to go with four across the back.
I think a system that allows us to play two up front away without weakening us defensively is pretty attacking in this league. Most teams will only have one striker and we know from experience how effective that is.
I have not seen the system in operation, but from what I hear and the fact that defensively it seems to be working and at least shots on and off target away from home seem to be reasonable, this 3-5-2 away from home seems to be a good formation.
The issue for me, is that we're playing two wing backs who can't cross and we're leaving the strikers isolated, I just don't think the system suits the players we currently have available. McKenna and Evans are both quite defensive and we're banking on Koren to create something for Prozzy or Aluko(or Aluko to create something for himself). It was way too defensive against Blackburn, who looked poor to me, I know they're one of the promotion favourites, but they don't look like it, I think it was points dropped when they were there for the taking.
Maybe work better with Aluko Alongside Koren and Mckenna/evans in a central three, has the legs to get up and support the 2 strikers as well as pick th eball up and be direct which seems to be what were crying out for, i think we'l see that when mattys back but for now if were going to use it why not ..........Aluko...Mckenna...Koren........ ...........Prozzy.............Simpson..........
There's a video somewhere, he kicked it to Kazim-Richards in his own area who scored with his next touch. I know we've only conceded one, but you can't argue that he was at fault for it. You asked why people aren't giving him praise and that is why. I can see why Bruce is playing 5-3-2 and I like that we're a bit more adaptable now, but I completely agree with your last paragraph. Blackburn were definitely there for the taking and we really need to be able to score a goal in those games. There are much worse teams than us that score goals far more easily.
Istplt, you may be right about that goal, I'm not sure as the commentators said it was Chester. But if it is right it is a long way from one goal to "every league goal scored against us this season" I wonder what Bruce Jnr has to do to convince some of you, minds already made up eh!!!
There was some confusions because apparently Chester messed up too by missing a header just before, but it was totally evident at the game that Bruce was at fault. My 'every league goal' remark was tongue in cheek because of course that is only one goal.
yep they looked great tonight notice how he squeezed junior on at the end. there ya go son, bit of appearance money for ya.
Thing is people justified this signing by saying "yeah he might not be very good, but at least he's only cover" but it turns out he's featured in every game so far which is incredible for a centre half who has Chester and Faye ahead of him. Even if he is a good player, why do we keep needing to bring him on in every game? He's a CB ffs.
We've conceded 1 goal in three Championship games (which is the only league that counts). That sounds pretty good to me.
If you are not Vidic, Ferdinand or Stam, then you must be .... John Terry. Otherwise you're a ****! Steve Bruce has won many trophies, what have you done?
