Yes. The programme I mentioned showed examples of this and the different scams they use. A number of cases of people with early onset dementia are caught out. Though some you would not have expected to get caught out did. The frightening thing is the app you ask to download, as was the one he was trying to get me to install, are legitimate ones you can get on the Google and Apple app stores which they can use to have complete control of your device and see everything in it. In one episode the programme managed to hack into the HQ of one of these scam organisations. Loads of people in a room all coming out with thee same spiel. It was brilliant seeing the reaction when one lady who said, quite honestly, that she didn’t deal with online stuff, her son did as he was bright and a police inspector. Immediate disconnection. As I said the programme, Scam Interceptors is on iplayer and worth a look.
Telephone scams are one thing, the point of my thread was to highlight the fact that we are moving onto the next level. Technology can now produce a video of anyone ( real film ) saying anything ( in their own words ) how will we be able to tell real from fake? I think there was a film or telly program on this recently.
If you see TwoWrights ordering a pint of bitter or Big Vern talking sense it won’t be difficult to tell.
TwoWrights once bought me a pint of stout, without being prompted or without having a gun held to his head. Purely out of the goodness of his heart.
Correction. A picture of TwoWrights buying and drinking a pint of beer. He bought me a pint of beer whilst telling mechow crap it was.
Ah but you ended the day drinking Carling, I kept on the Carling. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Scams are getting more and more elaborate these days. You literally need to check, double check and triple check EVERYTHING. Any small scale online retailer you’ve never heard of, search them on forums and reddit, check them on companies house, check their address and phone number. Never follow links from an email, even if it looks 100% legit. Never buy things online via bank transfer or PayPal friends and family. Just treat everyone as guilty until PROVEN innocent. This is the same for any business owners and quote requests and PO’s from random new customers, or odd looking quote requests from regular customers. There are a few of these going round.
It was a freebie can given by someone on the train. It would have been impolite to refuse. And, I was feeling dry.
I have bookmarked (within my browser) all the key sites I use. I never follow a link, email or whatever, nor do a new search to access any of them. When I need to go on those sites, I go via the bookmark as I know it's legitimate. Maybe most people do the same but just thought I'd mention it.
I drink it, I like it that'll do for me. Could be that I've no taste, that said I post on here. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I once had Carling in a pub.But I was vairy, vairy drunk…One of my lads drinks Carling.I am thinking of having a DNA test done
