I think he's good for backup. Play him in the FA Cup and on Tuesday nights, but he shouldn't be a regular starter judging by his rawness at the moment. If we had to loan him, I'd hope it would be a top Division Three or decent bottom-half Division Two side that would take him on. Bury and Carlisle are both a bit small-time for someone who's developed so strongly. Most of all though, I'd like to see him at centre-back rather than out of position on the flank. I know I'm not a pro (really, really not a pro!), but I play in defence and when I'm played on the right hand side, I can't cope with it at all. It's just not my 'natural side', as they say, and I think Lees probably feels the same. He likes to win balls in the air and play it out of defence. He has a good cross on him, but that's not grounds enough to justify him being played out of position. A Grayson clanger, in my eyes.

By the way Boggers, I don't think we are moving in the right direction. As it stands, we're regressing from last season. I know we had a very mixed start then too - and I really do hope it picks up in the way it did around October/November then - but when I look at the 4-4-2 formation, the gaping hole in the middle, the clueless defence, the lack of passion on the wings and most of all, the utter lack of pressure from our players when the opposition are on the ball, I worry that this is going to be a season of mid-table mediocrity at best.

So I think it's as good a time as any to be a negative bastard! Don't get me wrong, I've been very impressed by Lonergan, White, Clayton and McCormack who have all stepped up to the mark, but it's unsurprising that we're not playing as a team when we have no leadership and no expertise in the squad. That would cost us money, you see.

All fair points 18. Brighton on Friday should give us a better indication of where we are & where we're going than last night. Never forget, Arsenal lost 8-2 to that lot, even if we weren't playing quite their 1st team
