Cheating drives me bloody mental, no matter how small. The rewards are greater if you work hard to achieve them. I could never cheat to win something. There would always be something bugging me in the back of my head if I did.
Don't know if this has already been said, but one of the most despicable aspects of this whole sorry affair is the way that, now that it's out, a host of implicated people are suddenly willing to talk about it. Clearly a lot of people had to be involved, and they must have known what they were doing. None of them blew the whistle -- but they are scrambling over each other now to tell the sorry tale. 
I personally find the saddest part of it all, and a theme consistent also with that of the Jimmy Savile affair, is the way he simply assumed that he was bullet-proof, completely untouchable and that he would get away with it because of his public image as being such a generous and kind person with so many millions being raised in his name for cancer charities across the globe. I understand Savile used his high-up influences (he was a close friend of Prince Charles and the Queen for heaven’s sake) and the fact he was patron of so many good causes as a bargaining tool for silence – it has actually been alleged that he blackmailed people who were onto him by saying if any of this came to light the fund raising for Great Ormond Street and Stoke Mandeville would stop in an instant. And the fact it has taken until long after his death for the truth to out tells us that the evil old bastard somehow managed to get away with it.
I wonder if Armstrong believed he was under the same kind of immunity and that he was going to be able to take this dirty ‘secret’ to the grave with him as well. Ah well, looks like the **** has hit the fan somewhat earlier than you were expecting Mr.Armstrong – now let’s hear what you’ve got to say for yourself you lying, cheating bastard!

it's pretty clear the UCI were in on it as well at the time. hopefully some heads will roll there too if anyone senior is still around - sounds like the UCI is a bit like FIFA.
Why don't cheats get banned for life? Or even imprisoned. If you can get 8 months for wearing a tee-shirt, which admittedly was vile and offensive, then why can't you get 6 months for cheating and altering how events turn out? Bookmakers and Joe Public have obviously been cheated many times over.
