Smalling was, like Martin, a non-leaguer until he signed for Fullham. A year later he was at United.

I don't think anyone's really serious about Martin playing for England any time soon, but the threads made just to hate on him are kinda dumb.

Don't like to brag, but what happened to all these people saying how much Adkins loved Martin. As soon as Hoover and Fonte were fit he was dropped to his rightful place, back up.

With all the euphoria over Martin and his performances, some good, some not so good. I don't remember anyone saying Martin was first choice over Hoover or that Hoover would struggle to get back into the side. Martin is learning his trade but me thinks he has a little way to go before he is first choice!

Stupid thread. Martin was providing cover for Hooiveld and Fonte, came in and did a good job. Hooiveld and Fonte have done nothing to get dropped so wake up and accept Martin must return to the bench

OK thanks, I think he has forgotten that Aaron is right footed and has been playing on the Centre left, always a disdvantage, but I think he has done well, having been thrown into the deep end, his thirst for knowledge of the game seems unquenched, will get better, but Premier? Only time will tell, all of the best players had to start somewhere.

Would just like to point out that England school boys are a completely different kettle of fish to teams such as England U21s and U19s.

with time he has improved alot and I have full confidence in him as a backup. He was bought for 50 quid and a packet of crisps- what do you expect. I think he has suprised many by how well he has covered for jose then jos
