That utter **** who has just been convicted for killing that little 6 year old girl, definitely! String that ****ing arsehole up. I expect someone to come on saying "he's only sixteen, it's probably video games that made him that way" if that is you then **** you. String the **** up
Most people have very strong opinions on this one way or another. I never have. I see the arguments from both sides. Until a few years ago I probably leaned in favour, but only in cases with overwhelming non disputable evidence I tend to lean the other way now and am opposed to the idea... But not strongly.
There are certain crimes that I would gladly pull the lever for ... provided I was 100% sure of the guilt ... and I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it
And therein lies the rub. How many wrongly convicted people would have been hung since 1965 if we'd still had the death penalty in place?
No one cares what you think. Your only reason for being here is on holiday.. You can';t engage on other threads, bye
On lynch mobs? Nah, I'm dead against. As for judicial execution, I've yet to hear a convincing argument in favour; certainly not deterence, how many people do the Yanks execute every year, yet the murder rate just goes up and up? I'd definitely be against killing women and underage girls btw, whatever their crimes. I'm old school like that.
I don't trust the people who administer it to get everything right, by a long shot. I still believe in the Rule of Law though, that's one of the fundamental principles of a civilised society.
I used to be all for it, with 100% proof But put simply I don't trust the system to do the right thing. Too many cases where people were stitched up
