why gammon tho? I don’t get it.

It started off as a description of some of the more vocal Brexitards' faces as they tend to get very angry and go bright pink and sweaty. It then became a label for people espousing those views.

No it does indeed make it racist. The insult is based on skin pigmentation. That is obvious to those in the neutral corner.

But it's their views and attitudes that are labelled, they're not categorised by their skin colour.
