Hey there sports fans, A great thread will be found, When Canariez meet Swanz, At The Statue of Liberty Ground!
The swans seem awfully brash They think they will give us a thrash But I assure you Welsh friends We'll Fight to the end and then we're all out on the lash!
Your all nuts! but here goes.................... I'll leave the mortal world behind, Take wing in an flight fantastical, With singing, my eternal soul Will rise up swan-like in the air. And now I see that feathered skin My figure covers all around. My breast is downy and my back is winged, I shine with pearly swan-like white. I fly, I soar-and see below The world entire-- oceans, woods. Like mountains they lift up their heads To hear my lofty hymn to victory. The tomb will not confine me, I will not turn to dust among the yellow birds, But like a heavenly set of pipes, My voice will ring out from the sky. Will hear of me in time: Bluebirds, Baggies, the Canaries, and Spurs, And others locked today in battle, Will point at me and they'll pronounce: "There flies the one who tuned his lyre To speak the language of the game, And preaching football to the whole world, Enjoyed the happiness of them all." Forget a big and dismal fixture, My Swans! Cease singing, muses' choir! My Club! With patience gird yourself! Don't keen upon what seems a corpse. tis only the cannery wharf, all downed and anchored in despair! What a bunch of DeadPoets!...................... please log in to view this image
While we enjoy the prose and this rythmic banter, the Swan will soar high and will win with a canter. While I may here you squirm, complain and then jeer, we hope you then join us for laughs and a beer. But to believe you will win, you must smoke the dope, cos just like the post, you've 'Norfolk-in-hope!'
Dragon Philjack! That's a fantastic piece of poetry, something most of us can only dream of aquiring! You will never beat our own Bard, RBF, but I like ALL forms of poetry, and yours is up there with the best of them! Cue some moron to say, "But it doesn't rhyme!"
Please don't think us Swans are brash Such comments are a little rash Just like the one I got from Sharon That Friday I had out in Barrons {A now defunct nightclub of ill-repute But really, Sharon was a beaut} But confident we surely are Our Manager has brought us far Our home record suggests a Victory At the Stadium Liberty That doesn't mean we're putting you down The Canaries often make us frown Your win at home was a feast And well deserved to say the least But as you slurped from your victory cup We knew our team just didn't turn up This week is sure to give us cheer A great win followed by some beer But Dragonphil has post in haste An expert at the cut n' paste An original work we hope in vain Perhaps a transplant of the brain?
I heard you lot were egg chasers So I don't know why your so eager to face us We get the ball on the floor Pass to holty to score And another 3 points will embrace us.
The Swan I'll leave the mortal world behind, Take wing in an flight fantastical, With singing, my eternal soul Will rise up swan-like in the air. Possessing two immortal traits, In Purgatory I won't not linger, But rising over jealousy I'll leave behind me kingdoms' shine. 'Tis so! Though not renowned by birth, I am the muses favorite, From other notables a world apart- I'll be preferred by death itself. The tomb will not confine me, I will not turn to dust among the stars, But like a heavenly set of pipes, My voice will ring out from the sky. And now I see that feathered skin My figure covers all around. My breast is downy and my back is winged, I shine with pearly swan-like white. I fly, I soar-and see below The world entire-- oceans, woods. Like mountains they lift up their heads To hear my lofty hymn to God. From Kuril Islands to the river Bug, From White Sea to the Caspian, Peoples from half the world Of whom the Russian race's comprised, Will hear of me in time: Slavs, Huns, the Scythians, and Finns, And others locked today in battle, Will point at me and they'll pronounce: "There flies the one who tuned his lyre To speak the language of the heart, And preaching peace to the whole world, Enjoyed the happiness of all." Forget a big and stately funeral, My friends! Cease singing, muses' choir! My wife! With patience gird yourself! Don't keen upon what seems a corpse. Gavril Romanovich Derzhavin CHEAT!
Aswan. 'Plagiarism' = 'the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.' Naughty naughty, DPJ. No original thoughts from you then?
Hyms and Arias we allways sing, While the Mighty Swans, Do their thing, Your Norfolks Pride , There is no doubt, But your getting stuffed, So please don't pout! Only joking Canaries I hope the weather is kind to you on your journey here and that both set's of supporters see a game worthy of the two best teams that came up last year. ( and we win of course )
I´ll second that, Ffsdon´t Although I know some hoops that won´t, But fair to say we´re well away At least for now, on course to stay, But just a wobble´s all it takes To put the skids on and the brakes, So if this game should end a draw It would help both our causes more, Than if one side should run away With all three points on Saturday, But if a winner there must be Then I´m afraid I disagree, With your wishes, but then you should Have guessed I´m sure, that I would.
Guys, nice to have a bit of friendly rivalry with you Swans. You're a good bunch especially compared to some of the nutbags we've encountered on this board so far this season. (Spurz anyone?) Looking forward to the game this weekend. Well done on securing your boss for a few more years too. "Manager" has been the most important name on the team sheet for both our teams the last couple of seasons.
Bottom line is... In the Words of Procul Harem....cue the organ..... We've both played the light fandango, turned cartwheels across the Prem. When the pundits dissed our chances, we both proved them wrong again. Norwich did the double, but the Swans gave them a game We will both be safe this season, but next year, won't be the same. But I still love my Super Swansea even though today we fail, but next year will be different... you'll be a whiter shade of pale PEACE AND THANKS You may have won the game but the Jacks won the rhymes by far. Keep practising RBF and look forward to chatting next year
Enjoyable chatting swimaway But we had the wings on the day, One thing we agree About, we should see Premier League football again come May. All the best, and I leave you with http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/124040-Just-For-Once
