He doesn't seem to comprehend the need to have as good a defence as well as a good attack, and the part were he says he doesn't think the transfer window had an effect on our result would be funny as **** if it wasn't the club we support that he was referring to.

 

Does he really actually mean this though or is it just media talk, albeit not very fan pleasing media talk

Have to bare in mind the relationships and dynamics behind the scenes, the manager has to be a diplomat a lot of the time

I actually agree that VVD wouldn't have been some kind of insta-fix to what is a significantly larger and wider problem, but also to say that those problems couldn't have been addressed in the window is BS for sure since the larger and wider problem could've been (at least partially) fixed by one or two shrewd signings

 

Leave any defence as exposed as we do and they will leak. Period. Perhaps talking about leaky periods isn't appropriate?

Yeah, he does have to be diplomatic and tow the company line, but as you say he had plenty of time to turn his attention away from VVD and sign better players than we have for our problem areas/positions.
The novelty factor has started wearing off and he's under the microscope from our supporters as well as the hacks.
