Why would we sell our leading scorer when goal shortage is a massive problem. I know every player has his price but i honestly think Sam has more up top than that.

Of course Defoe is going nowhere. But we don't have a goal shortage problem fella. 11th in the league for goals scored, with 18th on chances created. That's clinical. It's creating chances and defending we have a problem with.

Tim Thornton, fresh from his bulky bacon sandwich, has got back to work and has found out some information about Sunderland’s search for a new defender.

“Sunderland made an enquiry over the possibility Mathieu Debuchy coming in on loan, but no movements on that yet.

“One player that won’t be going is Steven Fletcher, who has attracted interest from abroad, the Premier League and Scotland. With the transfer window coming to a close, there is no time to bring in a replacement, so it is likely Fletcher will stay.”
 
Sunderland have emerged as the surprise favourites to land Chelsea striker Loic Remy on loan, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 29-year-old has been linked with Premier League leaders Leicester City as well as a return to former club, Newcastle United during this window (via Daily Mirror). And the Mirror reported that it was the Foxes that were closing in on a £10m move for the Frenchman.
However, the Mirror are now stating that the Black Cats have moved into pole position in the race for his signature, and if they could complete a deal before the deadline, it will certainly be a massive boost to the club's hopes of remaining in the division.

I thought the Mirror on the wall only told the truth! However, I would be delighted if this were true!!
 
No way will Remy come to us in our position unless there are a few clauses put in the contract! Ideally a loan then if we stay up automatically turns into a permanent move with fee already agreed. Bit like the Alvarez deal.
Would Remy not be too similar to Defoe tho? Defoe needs a big lad along side him imo...
