On a related note, SSN saying they haven't signed Jelavic. Surprising.

I think it's looking more and more like we are done in this transfer window now. If none of our bigger players leave, which now seems to be the case Im happy. I would have definitely settled for Cisse and no big stars leaving before Jan.

No defender is a worry but hopefully we pick up minimal injuries and suspensions till the season's finished then start recruiting again in the summer. Mark Douglas thinks there will be a 'big' upheavel of players in the summer, both in and out .
 
Is that the same Jim White who goes on Fighting Talk now and then?

Beeb and Sky both make Wigan favourites to sign Mariappa, the figure is reported as being between £2.5m and £3.25m, which sounds like the sort of money we would consider. Newcastle's "final" bid reported to be closer to £1.75m from sources down here.

Not sure whether he would go to Wigan though. If they get relegated I doubt he'd even be on that much more money than at Watford.

Totally agreed. But you can guarantee if there's no defender signed there will be at least 3 threads on here with people saying "What a surprise.. fat man shafts us again.. blah blah".

Yeah, it not too bad.

Hopefully, we will get another centre back though - even if it is just on loan
 
If we see the window shut without anyone else entering or leaving NUFC then this has been one of the better windows under Ashley. This Watford fellow looks pony to be honest. In form, but pony.

Would have been a typical January panic buy. Go get him Wigan! <ok>

Nah, i think we knew on some level that a defender wouldn't be coming in even though we do need one. Bringing in Cisse was a massive coup for us and with Ba performing like he has been, it been a good transfer window, certainly nothing like last Jan anyway!

Yeah, I like how we have only bid a certain amount and won't go any higher. He probably suits Wigan more than us aswell tbh.
 
This transfer window is looking to be like last years. Lots of talk of we need this and that for our defence but nothing. ( Last year it was a centre forward ) God help us if Colo struggles for fitness as I think he's playing when not 100% and will progressively get more and more games out.
Alan Pardew, you disappoint me.
 
Guys, for the love of god, we have Perch, Coloccini and Williamson from now until the end of the season. That's 16 matches. Haven't we seen enough against Fulham and Brighton to know that NOT getting a defender is a fcking disaster????

Because we know he's not worth it, like most on here. It's obvious we need a defender, but paying over the odds? No thanks. That's King Kenny's forte.
 
I do think we should go looking for a centre back, but not get robbed.

Bolton have had a £6m bid rejected for Rhys Williams <yikes>. I'd rather not get anybody, than sign someone for way more than they're worth
